Hello all,
Been kiting on skis for several years...saw the post on skis vs boards and going to give boarding a try tomorrow. Looks like the wind will support either of my kites, a 9 or a 14. Question is whether rigging one or the other would give me a better shot at a successful first day out, and hence get me to stimulate the economy by buying some more gear. I will just be renting boots and board for the day.
If anyone is in the area and looking for a laugh or two come on out to Lake Wissota.

Good luck! Your legs will burn. Your butt will be wet. And most likely, if you find some dirty wind, you may eat some snow. If renting, try your best to get a over sized twin-tip for your weight. This is especially helpful if you are in deep or soft snow. 12-15degrees duck stance is nice to request too. Soft and flexible boots are a good thing to have to save your legs. Over sized on the boots can work, but not too much over. The more you slide around in them, the greater the chance for blisters. And make sure your feet cannot slip out of them.
The butt pad below saved me on the ski hill today. Pure ice! Like something you would need iceclimbing gear for. Actually sped up once I hit the ground with my butt. No chance on a trashed edge snowboard. Later I got into a fight with a 55gallon plastic barrel. It won.

Thanks Matt,
I'll have to look for an ass pad before I head out!
