Tried kiting at Lake Independence?

Post by KitingKen »

For those of you more on the west side of the cities, you may want to try Lake Independence. 2X bigger than Swede. Excellent parking and easy access at the Baker park boat launch, complete with a restroom (satellite anyway). I was just out yesterday and had a beautiful clean wind out of the west for 2 hours non-stop. My first time on a snowboard after learning to kite on skis last year, what a blast! Snowboards work much better than skis once you're into deeper snow.

If you get out into the main part of the lake its good for northerly winds too. Later in the year it gets more populated with fish houses, but for now its a massive playground. Could use some more snow but still pretty good conditions.

I'd love to see some other kiters out there once and awhile!
