Need some info on South Padre

Once again, I am going to try for a quick couple days of windsurfing out of town.

The plan is the 26th through the 29 at South Padre.

Need a few recommendations:

1. Best cheaper hotel(s).

2. Best places to rent gear (anything right on the beach, or will I need to rent a vehicle with roof rack).

3. Anyone from MN going to be down there to sail with?
