Mille this Weekend

Post by mattrau »

Hey guys, Just wondering where anyone will be kiting on Mille on Friday, Sat or Sun? Best location with the winds forecasted for a beginner?

Friday looks like some strong West winds. Normally Malmo is the preferred beginner spot since it is shallow out a few thousand feet. But since West winds will be directly onshore though, there is a level of danger and you'll constantly be walking out...upwind. It is still a great option, just keep yourself 3+ kite line lengths from shore...as things can go wrong real quick.

If you're looking to do body drags Reddy might be a better call, as the winds will be more sideshore. You can get 4-5 kite lines out from shore, and could do body drags down along the shoreline, do a self rescue and walk back on shore.

have fun.

Any thoughts for Mille on Saturday? Looks like there may be rideable wind. Does Malmo seem doable? If I'm looking at things correctly it looks like W/NW winds.

Malmo will be good on a W -NW wind. It only get bad when the wind turns directly north. Friday is going to be epic.
