We Scored on Milly Tuesday

Post by Kevinousdigian »

I've felt fortunate to get 4 sessions in already at White Bear and Turtle Lake but was getting hungry for a taste of those steady winds and waves to play on. Terry Dunklee and I decided to go for it at Mille Lacs and came home with big grins. We launched out of Vineland which is just off 169 by Rum River and officially 'state park' property (thankfully our stickers are still good because as we were launching a dnr guy came buy to check).

It didn't look that windy but we hoped it was out further because we were deep in bay and sheltered and could see some white capping. Wise Terry put a stake in the ground by going 10m and I followed with my 11m. He launched me first and in one short run I knew I was really lit and came back for my small kiteboard and to launch Terry.

The wind and waves lined up great away from the launch. For almost 3 hours we enjoyed very steady winds in the 20s and found some nice rollers to play on. The sun also came out and we were warm all day. I loved the port ramps and getting up in the air and seeing the gleaming sun off the water.

I came home so glad for making the trip to ML as I almost always do and just looking for the next good day up there. That spot was nice because it was only 1 hr and 10 min. from work. Friday could be a Father Hennepin day... but I'm going to twins game so I'm out.... I hope someone will get there to keep enjoying that lake!

I scored up there too. I was at reddy for a couple hours till about noon when the rain finally moved in. Was great to get back up there. Wish I would have known you guys were on the west shore. It was pretty lonely at reddy by myself. Aaron came over with Brock to keep me company tho. What a great start to the season, 6 water sessions already!

Good to hear you all had a blast on Tues! The wind was late at Forest lake but myself and Mark Hazzard scored a blast in the late hours :D

So with the nice forecast for Friday is anyone thinking of hitting Fr Hennipen??? I do not want to sail alone since I only have a wetsuit but can't wait to hit Milly!!
