I'll be up this weekend but will have Family with me, so I just might be able to get out Saturday for a few hours or so. How was last Monday, looked like a lot of people made it up to Milly?

Monday was great at Reddy Creek. I had to use my 14 all day but the wind was very steady. The waves were great. One of my best sessions of the year. I have never launched at Father Hennepin. Is it deep like Izaty's. I don't like Izat'ys because by the time you can touch bottom, your kite is a few feet from the trees. If a wave knocks you down your kite will be in the trees. One of the things I like about Malmo and Reddy's is the shallows way out. What is the launch like at Father Hennepin. Is it shallow enough to drift and self land if needed. Also they are showing the wind may go NNE later in the day. Where is the best place to enjoy big shallows. If it does go NE. I want to head up again for some waves and steady wind this weekend if the forcast holds. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

For Milly on a NE a good launch is between Kathio State Park and the Casino. The road is call Twilight Drive off of 169.

Not much for shallows at FH. JRN did a drift launch last week there. For self-launch, I've done a weighted-tip launch from the beach (assuming the beach is empty).

For shallows, Wakon Bay would be better but I've never sailed there.

The kiting Monday was phenomenal.

I'll be driving up to Mille Friday evening.

Everyone: let us know where you'll be Saturday.

Jerry your suggestion is this stretch?

I think on Friday the wind will be largely straight north based on isobar map
http://www.rap.ucar.edu/weather/progs/prog36hr.gif.

I've windsurfed all over S. side of ML on north winds and the bay just to the east of izatys cranks up real nice waves which start rolling over like superior in the higher wind days (25 - 35 mph). I agree with the problem of launching a kite from izatys.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... 8&t=h&z=13

N is side shore at FH so easier to get out and on a yucky day like tomorrow I would expect many beach goers so it would be more doable to launch each other but I agree with Barry it's tight there.

I think straight north is a weak spot for kiting ML. If N-NW then FH is fine and if N-NE then the place by Kathio/Vineland may work but only for a few people (not massive parking). Wahkon bay works but in my view it doesnt make sense to drive to ML to get conditions that are similar or worse than local lakes (ie not nice swell, in little bay).

The best spot for wind and waves this weekend will be Saturday on lake Superior (WI side) by Herbster/Port Wing.

Depends on how east it goes. If it is N or NNE then the south side the lake would be pretty good. If it goes NE then breezy point would work better. If E then your golden.

Both of those spots are pretty shallow. It doesn't look like it will be too warm so there shouldn't be many beach goers... but if there are be sure to rig away from there and self launch as far away as you can (you can walk out quite aways). I might try it out tonight and see how it is with a straight north wind. Maybe kite on the south side of gooseberry island for some flat water!

Let you know if your going to be around on sat. I may be up here also!

The shallows are similar to Reddy. Not as sandy. More of an gravel bottom with some small rocks. Should be no problem, just ride in in deeper waters 1'+ to avoid scuffing of bottoms(butt & board)
