Anyone make it out today?
I was tortured by the swaying trees all day long and especially by needing to lean my bike into the sidewind!

Sweet session in Buffalo on Buffalo lake - The launch is in great condition with plenty of open space and nice grass. Plenty or open room, enough to Self launch and land the kite on the grass rigging area. Nicely powered with 8m Cab SB3, even though winds were mid 20's there were only very small caps forming with the occasional roller making for speedy easy rides back and forth with some nice boost options on rollers mid lake. In the water at 5:30 and off just before the rain moved in at 7:00 with a few passing thunder heads. Wouldnt recomend this lake for beginers as the south wind could push you up on shoreline a few feet off the HWY 35 and passing trafic, that would bring new meaning to kitemare. Looking forward to another session late tomorrow afternoon possibly at Wac.

Re: Hoy?
Had a wild ride at Waconia on my 7 meter T2. In the lulls I could have used a 14. In some of the gusts a 5 would have been enough. Felt like it was going between 10 and 40 MPH. Also shifty at times. The crazyist winds I have ever kited. Some times even though the wind was blowing hard it seemed hollow. Only to be slamed by a dense gust a second later. I think I was boiling water on my fins in the big gusts.
Should be good tommorow too.
Lets hope it is more steady.

Glad you got some rides Tom. I was sitting in a park in Edina at 2:15 PM trying to fugre out if I had time for kiting at Wacky before my 5 PM appointment...Jeff G called....decided to wait for Wednesday. I will head out after the rain stops..Hoping for steadier winds...I was very hard watching the trees rock so hard.... Did Jeff make it out? How many others were there?
Re: Hoy?
Jeff G was out there as was Eric P and several other kiters. I didn’t arrive until 5, so missed the early sailing, but the wind stayed up until I left around 7:30. I rigged the Professors’s 5.2M sail on the other professor’s (Bill S) 93l board and was lit up for the hour or so I was on the lake. Could have prolly used a 4.7M or more downhaul on the 5.2M. On the whole though this set up worked quite well, even made a jibe that a few people saw.
The wind was gusty, but I felt like it was pretty good quality, especially for a south around here. The holes were not long at all, usually able to sail through them by going downwind a little. The gusts were sustained and got pretty strong at times. Usually you can count on them dying out somewhere along the tack , but a few times it really stayed up for sometime and I found myself attempting some pretty overpowered waterstarts. Not bad for a quickie after-work sesh.

Was on an 8m Naish X2 C kite and was over-powered more often than not. I think it was perhaps the worst (gusty) conditions I have ever kited in but also some of the most fun regarding bump and jump. Super fun, good seeing everyone out there! Good luck if you're heading out tonight as well.
