Today I was teaching a couple of really nice guys ( they know about the forum now so I got to be nice) a lesson on WBL.
The students were just ready to go off on their first ride when Mike W launches his kite. I was able to use Mike as an example and explain a lot of what Mike was doing. Great teaching tool....thanks Mike. Then Mike took it to the air, the students jaws dropped, slowly moving into grins. Talk about motivational.
Then Terry D gets moving and I was pointing at Terry to show turn technique, Terry not aware of the script, did a jump turn. Equal stoke for the students and gave me the chance to explain that one of the great things about kitings experimenting and playing.
When you've been doing this silly game for a while you forget how damned cool it looks, thanks Terry and Mike for helping get Mark and Tony more hooked.
If you get to see these guys on the snow please help them out, they had a shitty instructor and are handicapped from the outset of their kiting careers.
What a great day to teach, now I'm more stoked by being a spectator for a day.....cheers guys, I owe you a beer.

Thanks for the strokes Steve. There's enough Scot in me I'll take a free beer anytime.

Steve, your students are in fine hands. Glad to share a little cheer out there today. The bright sunshine and good company was just what the doctor ordered.
Re: Ain't it great
Sorry I missed seeing you, Mike. More Kudos to Terry: Thanks for helping me get my lines sorted out and launched, TWICE! You guys are the best. Was that your Blue & Yellow Ozone, Steve? It was great to be back out on d'BEAR!

Jim...I never got to ride. But one student was on a Rasta, green, yellow and red, the other a black/grey and white foil.
Super day, though early on it was a little chilly. It's amazing how much warmer it feels when the sky turned blue.

Re: Ain't it great
Barry Peterson and I enjoyed a fun lunchtime session at Turtle lake. That lake lined up perfectly on the west wind yesterday as we kept doing long runs from the north to the south shore.
The winter kiting is so nice when the wind and snow are good. Driving out on the lake simplifies life so much and the sunshine on the fresh snow is great too. I left thinking I hope we don't get warm temps or rain, drizzle, or too much new snow to screw up the awesome conditions.

Hey I know what you mean about watching some of the folks that have been doing this awhile. They make all the difficult things look easy.
And you can never have to much new snow.

Kevin and Barry,
Let me know if you plan to go out on Turtle Lake again this weekend. I live on Pleasant Lake in North Oaks and would like to meet some kiters in the area.
