Padre delivers the goods

Post by Tighe »

As I lay in bed last night going to sleep after getting in from Padre, I was very aware of the stillness in my surroundings. For the last 10 days the world was either filled with wind in my ears, kites and flags flapping in the wind, the roaring surf just outside our door all night long, or laughter and all those wonderful sounds little kids make. It was a very full and rich trip. Great people, incredible wind, intense sun, food you couldn't stop eating long after full, tasty brews, strong stoke and more stoke as many surpassed their expectations and got their first upwind rides, or first big air, or first 720 or found a new zone on the water. We were usually one of the first vehicles at the water around 9:30 or 10a and usually one of the last, if not the last, to leave the water after sunset, after 8pm. Long days that fed themselves on the stoke of the day.

Always fun to have so many Sotans down at the same time. The familiar faces, Nancy and Steve, Rob and Heather, Danielle and Jeremy, Adam, Rodger and Randy, Dorian, and Katie. And it's also great to get to know some of those new to the community a bit more, Alex and Melanie, Mike, Alan, Pete, Marc, Ryan, Chris, Manny, Brad, Heather, and Cory. It was also such a joy to have Brad and Heather's little girl Ella along, as well as Cory and Kelly's wonder child Breece.

There are some amazing pictures from the trip. Marc, Ryan, and Pete grabbed some sweet ones between sessions. They should be coming up soon.

By far one of the best kiting trips to date. Anytime you can call getting to bed at 10:00 a late night you're having a good time. Thanks to all who shared the wind and added to the experience. Too much fun.

Tighe, thanks again for being the driving force in assembling such an awesome group of people to share in the padre experience…It seems to just get better every time I go down, and this spring was no exception. The only thing better than your first back roll attempt is watching one of your kids go for one, and sharing the fact that his first Padre kiteboard trip was one of the coolest experiences of his life. :D :D :D

Glad it blew for you Tighe! After weird winter weather, and lots of teaching, looks like you got to cash in some Karma.

Thanks for organizing such a great trip Tighe! It was awesome to hang with so many fun people and ride everyday. Nothing like hitting it first day on a 9m in 30mph+ and then riding 10 days straight after that.

Hope to see all of you out on the water this summer!
