I was sailing from 10:00 to 3:00 on a 9.6 at Belaire waiting for the wind. In the future I'll let everyone know when I'm leaving the beach so they know it's time to rig up and get some good rides.

Real time regional wind map

You may find this regional site useful.

http://nddot.meridian-enviro.com/public/

Highlight and open "Forecast/Conditions Maps and Satellite Imagery"

Select the "Winds" map icon to get region wide current winds.
It's neat in that you can see the rotational patterns of highs and lows as well as their interaction and movement. Out here in nowhere land (no trees, no buildings, no geography, good wind) I generally assume that the weather is moving from the NW to the SE at approx. 30 mph and that as the sun pumps energy into the atmosphere the winds build during the day, so what I see about 90 to 100 miles WNW of my preferred sailing location at 11AM is a strong indication of what that site will be experiencing at 2PM (local geographic features not factored in)

or

Select the "anima" icon for an animated 6 visual of the trends

Enjoy,
