Cathy and Terry,

I hope all is going well. This is an area that I do have some experience in after a 12 day stint in HCMC. Welcome to Minnesota one of the highest taxed and most liberal states in the union. Get with a Social worker. Minnesota has a system called Minn Care. They should be able to help you and or suggest some other originations who can also help. Minnesota has a lot of helpful social programs for this.

Actually Dave I think may have some information he works on some program like this. I’ll give him a call and have him post if he has any info.

Resource for Ramps

Post by jcw »

Terry and Cathy,

Best of it as you move forward. In my work I've gotten to know some folks who specialize in designing and building ramps that are easy to use and fit well into whatever space is available. The Ramps program of the Metro Center for Independent Living also has a very complete on-line manual. Go to http://www.mcil-mn.org/modules.php?name=RampProject for more detail.

These folks will put together volunteer crews to build the ramps so that the costs are kept to the cost of materials. With their support and a crew of riders, this could probably be done quickly.

Go ahead and e-mail me directly at jerrycwood@comcast.net if you have any questions about this resource.

I sappose an address would be a good Idea, sorry about that.

1714 Clearwater Rd
Wacoina, MN 55387

thank you so much.

Gary Merhman is a contractor he's willing to help build the ramp. his number is 763-245-8674 to set up a date.

I am unsure if Terry is coming home next week or if Surgery comes first. We won't know until Monday or Tuesday for sure. The swelling has to go down befor they can opertate on the really bad leg.

I will go to the legion, thank you Nathan.

For those that want to know exactly what he broke, it is both heel caps, 1 ankle is split in half, and one tibia is fractured straight up the leg. Non weight baring for 6 months full recovery is about a year.

It can be difficult to post, I will be down at the hospital for the next couple of days. Squirrel and jon will watch posts.

I can't say how much all this means to us. It brings tears to my eyes. thank you sooooooooo much.

If the Waconia Legion does not have what you are looking for, let me know. I'll check the Richfield Legion tomorrow. I'm not sure what they have on hand anymore. I used to tell people they could borrow the stuff as long as they did not bring it back.
