Post by Barry P »

Nate,

Bummer about your shoulder getting broke. I sure hope you heal up fast.

Are you still interested in me bringing that rail out to Swede this weekend? I'll set it up wherever you'd like. Give me a call 7635576356, 7632322726.

What he said: Bummer about your shoulder, Dude! I'll be lost without my "GOFERIT" role model. I recommend that you play it for all its worth:

Nathan has a broken collarbone. Its a pretty bad break but they do not think he is going to need surgery.

We are still setting up the park on sunday, im going to make a new topic about it. That would be great if you brought that rail out to swede.

...if it's any consolation, after I crashed my motorcycle on the freeway the doc said the clavical is the best bone to break.

Nathan! I didn't know you broke your collarbone. Thats too bad man. I feel your pain. I broke mine a few summers ago doing motocross...and it didn't heal....so I left it broke and raced all summer and then had surgery in the fall after the season was over. LUcky for me it wasn't causing any pain. I now have a metal plate in my shoulder.

BUT...I wouldn't have broken my collarbone so easy if I didn't have my AC (shoulder) joint repaired two years prior that put a weak spot in the collarbone. I had a grade 3 separation from a rodeo gone bad at spirit mtn. The orthopedic highly recommended surgery, so I did, and it was a long recovery. After studying orthope dics in my medical training, I found out that grade 3 separations don't need to be repaired, and that you can just wait on it for years before you decide you want it repaired (if you have trouble lifting overhead). My new ortho doc also confirmed this, and he had me wait and try to do everything I could before they put the plate in.

One thing to remember, an orthopedic gets PAID to do surgery on you. Most are eager to do surgery, thats what they are trained to do. However, there are many out there that also believe in conservative treatment and resort to surgery as a last resort. Make sure they tell you ALL of your options, and if you can wait on it. I also found it is always best to get 2 opinions.

Sorry for my ranting, this turned out to be much longer than I thought.
