Riding this weekend

Post by Karl B »

I'm coming up from Madison for a conference in Minneapolis through Wed and I was hoping to get a little ride in one of these evenings. It looks like Sunday calls for a south breeze. What's the best place to go within an hour of downtown? thanks

Yo "Mad" man

Karl: Presuming U R kiting, not windsurfing: We have an unwritten law not to kite the inner-city lakes as it may prove a danger to the nearby skaters, bikers & joggers on the
paths close by the shoreline. You can ride White Bear Lk. at Rutherford Park on a South, but there's alot of boat traffic to dodge. Waconia is good & I hear many kiters go to Lake Washington west of town, but haven't tried them yet. Cannon Lk. may also be an option, but gets skunky in warm spells. Maybe check the "LAKES" section to see what might suit you. Good Luck, Jim N. P.S: I want to kite your ponds some day in MADTOWN!

I think Waconia is your call for this weekend. The situation that Jim is referring to is when the winds are from the NorthEast and we head to the southern end of the lake. The DNR launch on Waconia is fine for anything SSE through N.

Cannon, as Jim points out, is Pea soup right now. Washington and Mille Lacs could be good, but they are outside of your range.

I miss heading out the door and being at Mendota 15 minutes later. You got it good down there mon.

I'll be up on Mille Lacs doing a clinic on Sunday if you decide to make the drive.

Feel free to give me a call when you're in town. 651 dash 428 dash 4121

Lite Wind @ Malmo

Post by JRN »

Had some nice lt. wind riding @ Malmo w/ Nate & Matt. They took off for a down-winder to Reddy with Nick while Trisha provided retrieval. I headed home as todays forecast looked better in the Cities. Looks like Rutherford may be an option today. jim N.

3 Lakes/3 Days

Post by JRN »

Three Lakes in three days! Maui-Sota? Forest, Milly, then Sunday @ WBL!
I need a couple of windless work days to rest up!! It was fun to see Geo & GaJer making progress! I managed to survive a boat lift encounter & relaunch afterward! Gotta stop doing that. Jim N.
