Yeah, if that is the best option, I'd throw in as well.

I like the Carlsona option as well though. It is right on the water, food and drink right there. Ride till dark.

Seems Malmo might be a good idea, Nancy and I would throw in.

Carlsona vs. Cmmty. Cntr.

Post by JRN »

I sure don't want to take business away from Carlsona. I was thinking of it as more of an after hours alternative, so folks could have a bon-fire, & we all could enjoy Steve's musical talents...BEST HOOTENANY EVER!!! :P JRN

I suggest anyone that has anything for sale to bring it up and through a for sale sign on it. I know of quite a few people looking for gear, who are heading up.

We still want to go that direction if Ron would support us at Carlsona? If Ron is open to us hanging out, providing liquid refreshments, allowing a bon fire and camping...plus the ability to ride right there. Sounds pretty sweet to me.

Sounds like a good fall back though

Banquet Hall

Post by JRN »

I think it is more of a banquet hall than a crash pad. Don't know if they have rules & regs. regarding such. Guess if Carlsona will let us hang, i like that option better....wait & see? :?: :? JN

I talked to Shane at Carlsona about Sat night. We're welcome to have a bonfire and gather outside or on the beach. He didn't think noise would be an issue until 1-2 am. He also volunteered that he thought we could put some tents on the bank or beach. He'll talk to Ron to be sure and get back to me. Shane supervises the kitchen at Carlsona.

If we want to try and have a large group for dinner they would direct other customers away from the screen porch after 8 and try to get us all in by 8:30 or 9:00. Otherwise we'd have to take tables as they opened up.

The Community center is more a banquet hall with an outside covered pavilion and small yard area. I don't know if they would object to to having people sleep overnight inside but they did not allow tents or overnight camping.

If Carlsona gives us the OK let's go with it. If not we should still be able to get the Malmo Community center. I doubt anybody will plan any other events in the next week.

You want Sumo dis?

Post by JRN »

I don't need no arfin' buoys! The possibility of someone deliberately
trying to bump me off my ride scares me! I have enough trouble trying to stay out of the way as it is. Maybe if we could wear inflateable Sumo Suits, but I wouldn't mind watching others going for it , though... as long as it is confined to one area. Kiting with Dave is already pretty close to destructioln derby as it is. Jim N.

I think it would be fun to throw together a Kiter Cross course. It all depends upon conditions. I think if we get 2+ hours of wind either day, we may want to throw together some improptu competitions; kite cross, best trick, biggest air, graduate old school, graduate new school, silliest move, etc etc....then again we may just want to ride. Having options is always good.

Where is everyone staying? Is the Malmo C center going to happen? I have a site at Petes for back up but would rather stay at the Malmo C center if its going to be an option.

Ron and Shane at Carlsona confirmed a go for a bonfire and camping on the beach or slope behind the restaurant for Saturday night. They will also try to free up the screened porch for us after 8:00. So I did not book the Malmo
Community center.

My 2 cents about the bouy's and kiter cross possible race or competition, I think the gathering should be just that, a gathering of friends and family that just go out and have a good time and ride, when you start throwing competitions in there some people take it to serious and people end up getting hurt somehow. Competitions should be left at that, I think the original idea if I remember correctly was to just try and get the windsurfers and the kiters together and have a great time, maybe I'm wrong?
