Happy Thoughts - Good Service

Post by DRPayne »

Folks always say bad service gets more press than good service, so I wanted to break the trend and share some happy thoughts.

During the Kite Girl Clinic, the instructors found my Slingshot - 10m Turbo Diesel didn't have the "new and improved power stroke bar and chicken loop". The issue was so serious, Claudia, recommended packing the kite up until the upgrades were made.

Here's the great part! Not only did Claudia's partner Chris take the time to contact Slingshot for me, Slingshot sent me the upgrades for free (not even $ for shipping) all with great speed.

Glad to hear they got you up to date with your gear! I think you were in my group that Saturday. Do you know if your friend (sorry can't remember her name) got her release taken care of on the leash?

Actually, I joined the group on Sunday. My stuck release has been replaced. Not sure if there was another kite with the same issue.

It always surprises me that people always have to ASK the manufacturers for the upgrades to kites, and I'm not just picking on one kite company , they are all guilty of it. Why do the people who buy kites have to ask and in some instance pay for the shipment of upgrades to gear? You would think that a manufacturer who just end it automatically, especially in the case of a faulty release, something that important it should have been automatic, it's just interesting as a kite industry that they don't keep better tabs on who bought what and what model or year that it was made and if there was an upgrade or not, it should be automatic in my personal opinion. Fortunately there are companies that do send upgrades and send them fast, sligshot is one of them, when I ever had any issues they were always very fast and very professional in helping and sending the upgrades, got to give it to slingy they sell a great product and have excellent customer service, other kite companies could learn a few things from them.

I agree, Scott, it's too bad safety upgrades are not automatic. My case is a little odd, however, because we purchased the kite used on Ebay.

I suppose that is a good lesson for those of use trying to save a few bucks buying used gear. I should have done my homework to ensure the kite had all the necessary parts. The lucky thing is that I have not flown the kite yet, just unpacked and inflated it a dozen times.

Still a happy customer! :-)
