Lake Superior Surfing Photos April 16 2003

Just thought I'd share some incredible photos from last Wed on Superior. Gusts to 50. Photos taken by UMD surfer Luke Kavajecz and posted at lakesurf.com:

I'd love to find a spot on superior where the waves would line up side to side-on. Anyone explored further up the Wisconsin shore line on a strong NE'erly?

Dave,
Last year I talked to a guy at Park Point who was from either Port Wing or Herbster. I can't remember which, but he said there are some good places up there but he still came to Duluth when he thought it would be big. Chris Butsow also talked to him and may know more too.

His name is Jon Jurek and he said to give him a call if we were thinking of coming up.
his e-mail is: jon.jurek@aventis.com
and his cell is: 218.343.5490

The mouth of the Brule River looks promising, although I haven't made it there in a blow. I did manage to get to Cornucopia in 1 - 2 foot surf last fall-had a good time. A true coastal down wind run would be the ultimate Superior trip.
