Waconia today

Post by Eric S »

Mike G and Kevin O showed up around noon. The wind would come in wave and there was alot of difference between the gusts and the lulls (some lulls were like 5mph.) I took out a 16M kite and the other guys were using 6.5-8M

Doug B and Larry showed up later. I got my first slight tea bagging so I thought it was time to come if before I did some real damage to myself.

Doug rigged a 6plus sail and Larry tried out his new North Rhino 12. Larry was stoked on the performance of the kite and had a nice long session. David was down there on his 9.6 Loft doing fine. I think the wind readings on NOAA are screwy when it's gusty like that. They are saying 15 G25 all afternoon. I'd say it was 5-20 with some gusts higher. They I wonder how they calc the low end. It certainly wasn't 15mph average but the gust readings seem real.

Matt Z and Matt B showed up a little later and got out on a 12M Takoon and a 16M Rhino2 (Matt Z - he also didn't wear any booties, what a nut but he had a long session).

The wind has been better there. It was comming straight from the island and seemed gusty to the max but hey, this is Minnesota. I forgot to put on sunscreen and got some pink face. It was good to see everyone and be on the water.

Maybe sunday it will blow for real!
