What are the best places in NC for windsurfing?
Is there any place where you could stay in a tent on a beach?

Hatteras has some of the best riding in the country. There are a lot of shops out there and I think you can camp in the dunes. Might want to call some of the shops and see what you can find out.

When I used to live in NC, a group of us windsurfers would frequently spend weekends on the outer banks. The campground of choice use to be frisco woods campground (http://www.outer-banks.com/friscowoods/). It is located on the waterfront on the sound side. The campground is geared toward windfanatics. There are special structures where you can let your sails dry. You could wake up in the morning, roll out of your tent and go windsurfing. Our favorite windsurf shop was Fox Watersports (http://www.foxwatersports.com/). Other good shops are Ride Hatteras(http://www.ridehatteras.com), which is run by a local windsurfer, Charlie. That would be a good place to call and see where the hot spots are for wave sailing.
Have fun!
