Ok, that's it. After all the wind and no snow we've seen in the past couple of weeks, I just broke down, packed the car and dragged Michael out of bed for a road trip to Duluth. After talking to people at a bait shop and checking on the ice condition (over a foot in most places), we found Fish lake about 15 miles from Duluth. Still totally frozen up to the shore and an awesome coat of snow. To top it off we scored a 15-20 mph wind the whole day. We had a 6 hour session before we had to wrap up with a setting sun. We had plenty of spectators stop by on the road and check out the kites. Truly awesome! If I didn't have a trip in the way next weekend, I'd totally put another 300 miles on my car and do it again.

Totally Awesome!! I so wanted to drive to Duluth this weekend and play in all the new snow. I am glad to hear some else had the same idea and followed through with it. Fish lake would be perfect.
You 'dragged' me out of bed? I don't think that is exactly the case...I may not have been that conscious when you arrived, but I was up.
Seriously though, the snow was awesome and there was some great wind. If anyone has the chance to go up this week I would recommend it. Gives me hope for next year...when things start to go bad around here in March we can extend the season with a bit of driving.
