We'll at least I got a chance to rig a new sail and try a new drysuit. By the time I got wet it was 1PM I could hardly even waterstart and scholg. My board that foated me last year is now a sinker! Time for some Slim Fast, FAST! I didn't get any rides. I just flailed around the point.
It was weird, the wind was cranking on my way down, stayed OK while I rigged then fizzled till I left at 4PM. On my way home it was nuking. Near the refinery on 52 there was a flag on a crane near the road that looked like it was ready to be ripped off it's pole by the wind. Too bad the history isn't working for me on the NOAA site. I'd be interested if it was a local phenomenon or a lull in the middle of the day.
Even with the light wind there were some nice rolling waves moving up river. It looks like that place would be great if it ever goes off. It was fun to get out and see people stoked on sailing.

I felt bad for you, Eric. You drove a long way. Chris B says that pattern is typical for a sunny day at Pepin with E winds: wind in the am, dead for the afternoon, and then strong later on. The morning was pretty darn good. I showed up a bit after 10am to see some huge rollers and really solid wind. Chris was well powered on a 5.0. With a flat 5.5 I had some great sailing before the wind dropped off.
