old fin type

Post by johnbaker17 »

I got a hold of an old board that came with a mast and sail. All I need is a fin for it, and the House doesn't have it. Here's what the tail end of the board looks like:

And here's a few pics of the fin box (removed from the board):

Does anyone know where I can get a fin for this? What about replacing the box? Is that an option I should consider?
Thanks for your help.

That almost looks like the kind of fin I have in a old mistral longboard. Maybe Josh could weigh in on this. We might just have a extra fin that could fit that kind of box... Josh, Didn't we get a couple of fins that fit that style box with those last old boards we got?

That is exactly the same fin as the F2 Lightning (it was a cruiser.. weighed a TON) I started windsurfing on back in 1992. I am not sure if it has a name, but I think it was a popular type of fin box back then.

That used to be about the only style fin box around. It is still used on alot of wave boards, so I'm pretty sure you can order them still. I think they are called the Standard American Fin Box. Jim P.S: American Slot...reminds me of my prom date!
