There were a bunch of folks out at the island today. I got there about 10:30. The wind kept comming up during the day but was very gusty and shifty. It was really fun to be with other kiters though.
I wonder what it will be like tomorrow?

It looked like the wind was smack dead south most of the day. I think the "shifty" ness was more due to turbulence created by the giant hill to the south. Early in the day I kited all the way to the north shore near, I think it's called Pauls Landing by Taneger lake.
I was hoping that there would be more soft snow but it was about the same. I think the wind was better though.
Alex P had some formula or somthing about how the height of an object affects the flow of wind. I think there was a square in there related to wind speed. At 25-35mph an object upwind can disrupt flow from a very long way.
Gust on the N shore of Lake Mille Lacs are more like smooth surges most of the time instead of that harsh jerky feel that I felt yesterday sometimes. No doubt it was a good day kiting though!
