Trip report from Feb 2011.

WE booked our trip flying American airlines into UVF. Note there are two airports, you will want to fly into the Southern airport to kite the Reef or two elements kitebeaches.

During our 11 day stay we had great wind everyday, mostly in the 17 mph range with the occasional upper 20 to 30 mph days. I flew everything from 8m to 14m kites, mostly on the 12m kite. I would not recomend taking anything bigger than the 14m, lighter guys could get buy with 12m. The scene is very chill with no need for any clothes other than tshirts and board shorts. The water temp was warm, no wetsuits needed.

We stayed at the Reef, very basic accomadations but included a wonderful breakfast (fruit plate, coffee or tee, juice, eggs and bacon, fresh baked bread and jams) The Reef rooms have no air, no fridge, very basic with a step down bathroom that actuallt steps outside of the room to a enclosed but very nice bathroom/shower. The rooms go for 50-60 a night with breakfast included so very cheap - the downside is it sits next to two bars and the public beach so we had thumping very loud base 3 out of our 10 night stay.

Kiting conditions.

The Reef has one bay that you can only go upwind to a point due to the airport restrictions. Sandy beach with no coral but deep just 10 feet from beach. very choppy depending on wind direction.

2 Elements beach was our preffered kite spot - its just past a all inclusive resort and privately owned spot that will store your gear overnight and provide saftey boat rescue along with launch and catch services for $10 dollar a day. We took this option as the water offered all the variety that we were looking for. Large flats section with some shallows - caution must be used here though as there is coral spots that are clearly visable that you will not want to fall in. THis spot also offers rolling and breaking waves up to 8 feet when you kite out past the reefs. You can also kite upwind for miles with pure Sandy beaches the entire way. ALl beaches are public domain.

We Loved ST Lucia for kiteboarding, the people, the scuba, and tropical rain forests. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at all about this lil kiting paridise. ALso you can watch videos of kiteboard magizine 2011 fantasy camp that was going on during our stay.
