Hello Fellow Windsurfers,

It is time to announce the 2007 season of the Midwest Speed Quest on Lake Okabena in Worthington Minnesota. This is the 3rd year for this event, which runs from April 15th to October 15th. Thanks to the Support of our Sponsors, we have $2000 in prize money. We will pay $1000 CASH to the fastest windsurfer on Lake Okabena in 2007. Speed shall be measured by the "Average of the 5 Fastest Ten Second Runs". The Midwest Speed Quest follows the rules set out by the World Speed Sailing Records Council, The International Sailing Federation, and GPS Speed Surfing.

This event is designed for sailors of all skill levels, from beginners to the most experienced windsurfer. We will be there to get you started right!!!

This event is FREE!!! There are no fees or charges. You may enter as many times as you like all season long. We want you to participate as often as you can.

We will provide the GPS unit. The official GPS unit of the Midwest Speed Quest is the GT-11 Trip Tracker by LOCOSYS Technology. With $1000 on the line, our racers will want to use the most precise GPS device available.

Adam Anderson of Eagen Minnesota is the early leader with a speed of 29.593 knots (34.032 mph) recorded on May 5th. Visit our web site for ongoing race results.

New for 2007, we will also recognize Sailboats as a new Speed Sailing Category. The sailboats will be divided into Single hull and Multi Hull Categories. We are most pleased to recognize Sailboats as a new Speed Sailing Category. Speeds shall be measured by "The Fastest 500 Meter Run". Prizes for Sailboat Categories to be announced.
