2010 Sturgeon Stampede in Fond du Lac, WI - This weekend!!

Post by WAK Jason »

Hey gang, Stampede is coming up this next weekend. I hope everyone can make it for all the fun. Here is the press release that went out this past weekend in all the papers in the Fox Valley and Green Bay.

Press Release

21st Annual Sturgeon Stampede

The members of the Winnebago Association of Kiteboarders (WAK) will be hosting the 21st annual Sturgeon Stampede Kiteboarding Classic on February 13th, and 14th . The event will be held on Lake Winnebago ¼ mile off the shore of Fisherman’s Road landing (6 miles north of hwy 23 off hwy 151)

This year’s stampede will host many of the midwest’s best kiteboarders showing their favorite tricks while competing in a variety of heats including: Speed drags, Kitercross, Lake crossing, and of course Big Air . Events will be scheduled from Noon to dark each day, wind permitting.

Kiteboarding is the fastest growing water sport in the world, and can be enjoyed year round, on snow or water. It combines the fundamentals of wakeboarding or snowboarding, along with flying a 3 to 16 meter kite for power. The power of the kite is the adrenal attraction to the sport with jumps and tricks often exceeding 20 – 30 feet, and the ability to free ride for hours at a time. No gasoline or lift ticket required !

The members of WAK invite you to their event Feb 13-14 and suggest you dress for the occasion and bring your camera. Heated shelter, music, food and refreshments will be available. For more information check out our website at www.wakkiteboarding, or email any questions to info@wakkiteboarding.com

Start lining yourself up for 1 or both days ( we`ll be out on Fri also setting up)
While you are lining yourself up, HIT THE SNOW BUTTON.
We got a little snow a couple days ago. Probably about 4" right now! The crew was out yesterday riding. It is right on the edge. A little more snow would be great, but it is manageable now. We have been getting lake effect snow off and on all day today, so that helps some more. Looks like a good storm is forecasted for Monday night through Tuesday. That would be just what we need. Long range forecast also calls for a little more snow on Friday. Let's just hope we get wind for the weekend then. Can't wait for this weekend, always a great time. We'll be out on the lake Friday - Sunday, so feel free to join us any of the days. Saturday is the big event day though. Here is another link to our site with a registration form and more info.

Yeah, the wind totally didn't copereate today. The wind forecast looks good for tomorrow. What this means, tomorrow: Sunday (2/14) The WAK will be hosting racing and Big Air contests if the wind shows up. At the least we will be out cruising around. I hope everyone can make it out to support WAK! Rider meeting around 11 AM!
