KA Sails going fast at Sandy Point 43.95 knots

Post by Uffe »

Here's how flat water is down at Sandy Point, the spot has 5 of the 10 fastest recorded GPS times (all set in same day) this year.
Pretty cool feeling with water that flat. This guy hit 43.95 knots.

I think some kiters have gone pretty fast there as well. There've been a few articles published recently if I recall correctly.

Sandy Point ...

Hello,

Sandy Point Australia is quite a location. The off shore wind and the sand dunes right up to the shore make for consistent winds and very flat water.

Chris Lockwood has just set a new GPS speed record of 47.2 knots (Average of 5 Best Ten Second Intervals). This converts to 54.2 mph.

This was on a KA Koncept 5.0 Sail, a Carbon Art 44 Board, and Custom KA MacDougal Fin.

The Aussies would welcome some visitors from the USA. This would make a cool vacation. Australia is just entering their warm season.

Hello,

Here is a good link for Sandy Point Austraila Windsurfing.

Windsurfers share a common bond worldwide. I wish I could get down to Australia, but it will not happen for a few years.
