Metro-area ice

Post by jamescarlyle »

Hi everyone!

Once every few years since 2000 I've been visiting MSP from London in winter, and bringing my kite and skis with me. I haven't been here for 5 years but have just arrived for 2 weeks.

Are there any metro-area lakes which are kiteable at the moment? Nokomis has been my regular in the past, but have also ventured to Calhoun and Waconia. I'm not local and am not ice-savvy, so if anyone reads this, please let me know where is safe (if anywhere).

Thanks,

James

Got down to Nokomis today; there were a number of ice houses out, with 4-6" of ice. I'll take a kite down next time.
