The Sea was angry that day my friends....

Post by Quetzalcoatl »

T'was the Fourth of July weekend....(just Sat. the 6th) and the beach at Clear Lake State park which FULL of sunbathers and people and pets and

just 50 yrds. out from shore were about 20 small yachts. speed boats all anchored causing a barricade for anyone trying to sail out from shore.

Wind was a steady 10 mph out of the NE.... I saw an opening between the boats (about a good 30 ft of opening) and I went for it on a fast broad reach on my Formula Swift "Swiss" board

and 10.8 Loft sail. Some kids in the water yelled,,,"Awsome!" as I slid carefully past them and the boats. I guess I was an admirable roll-model for them,,more so then the drunk boaters just sitting around listening to Excellent Hard Rock music.

Once I got past the boat barricade, I pretty much had the lake to myself and just was planning for two hours out in the middle of the lake. Wind was even a bit better out there.

It really was a pretty good afternoon on Clear Lake,,,in Clear Lake, IA.

Quetzalcoatl (Eric F. ) out.
