Silver and GOLD - Ice kiting and sailing Silver Lake, MN

Post by Eric S »

Second kiteskate session on Silver Lake, MN near Hutchinson. I was able to propel myself with a 5.5M Cloud c.5 kite and hockey skates to 33mph - the ice boards were much faster. I couldn't keep up with them on broad reaches. Was a lot of fun. Some DN boats and boards likely out there today. I hope to get back out this weekend! Ice is about +4"

So........... Ice thickness??? Any open spots?

I took a drive from Omaha, NE to Sioux Falls, SD a day ago ad pretty much every 3' deep slough was frozen over. Some deeper ones were open, some shallower ones had baked open in the sun. But it is nice the ground should be cold enough to not melt snow from the bottom on the terrain.
