Re: Returning to the Gorge

Glad you had a good time. You missed the big fire. I84 at Mosier was closed recently and they even suggested people leave their Mosier homes.

GoPro camera

I was at Car Toys and saw the GoPro camera on sale for $159. Anyone use one? Wouldn't it work better mounted on the kite? I would like to use a camera for snow boarding and Mtn biking. http://www.goprocamera.com/?utm_source=gopro-com&utm_medium=url&utm_campaign=redirect [youtube]http://www.y...

Re: Kiting in Bermuda and Virgin Isles?

That sounds like fun. It reminds me that someone was doing a similar delivery in "The Perfect Storm" book You mentioning the Virgin isles got me searching for the HIHO windsurfing race I always wanted to try. They sleep on boats while sailing the islands for a week. I stumbled on the BVI K...

Re: Oregon

The late summer and fall here is a lot like Minnesota in that sometimes the jet stream can move over us and the pressure systems come flying by. You can sail an east wind in the morning at Stevenson, WA and west wind back at Hood River in the afternoon. You can also get the winds 80 miles east of Ho...

Re: Oregon

Good info so far. I can add a couple ideas. Be prepared to drive a lot and enjoy the ride. The drive down the coast is always scenic. The best views in OR are at Crater Lake, but you can not kite and it is a long drive. Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood is a scenic drive from Hood River if there is no win...

Re: 33rd Americas Cup boats

I was a reserve grinder with the Lionheart syndicate in 82. Cool. I remember when the main on boat camera at Freemantle was focused on the grinders. Looks like a real calorie burner job. I looked up Lionheart and it looks like Lionheart came up with a real innovation of a bendy mast, but it was too...

Re: 33rd Americas Cup boats

Wow :!: How large of a garage (that needs cleaning) would it take to store that vessel :?: Curious of specs. Looks huge with comparison of the size of the crew. j According to this youtube the deck is 90 feet square and the distance between the bases on a baseball diamond is 90 feet. [youtube]http:...

Wyatt, I don't want to get into an argument with you so let's drop this. You obviously are not familiar with the LMA program or you would not have posted so many inaccuracies. Do a little homework. This is a waste of my time. No need to get personal. I disagree with the LMA blog's description of di...

Re: Where did the wind go.

We have had an onshore push of marine clouds in Portland since Tuesday. It feels like the wind season has started, but I haven't checked the Gorge for awhile. All I know is I need a sweater for golf.

Re: Padre Island Rock Star

I remember when John Doyle windsurf boards were popular. I liked them because it was kind of a design innovation with the machine shaped hollow foam core. I remember seeing John and his little kid at Rufus. It makes me feel old now that his "little kid" is famous. When you said Padre Rock ...

Re: Epic Madison Gathering

got to try out a new board the Eclipse rep is bringing to market. Reverse camber minimal sidecut. Cool board. Not a huge difference on the deep snow but when i rode in someone else's trail and got down to the ice, I could feel the difference. Cool board. Yes, but does it have magne-traction? Revers...

Re: A sobering story

I had a similar thing happen on a MTN bike. I woke up once in the ambulance and then in the hospital. People say "it must be scary" or "you must have nightmares". I have no scary memories because I have no memories. The weird thing is the memories before a concussion are lost too...

That lady reminds me of my grandmother from Norway, one of the toughest people I have ever met.

My favorite British(or is it Australian, I forget) ER joke:
Patient: “Doctor, I've got a strawberry stuck up my bum.”
Doctor: “I've got some cream for that.

This accident haunts me beacaue I saw blond lady kiter at Rufus last fall and she looked just like Chistina. I don't kite, but I have experience with a broken neck while diving into shallow water. No safety device is going to prevent injuries to your neck if you pile drive into the the ground head h...

I found a method to search all of a domain using Google and was searching craigslist.org looking for an ice boat.

I Googled: site:craigslist.org dn iceboat

This popped up: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/boa/894857104.html and I have no clue what it is.
