In mu User Control panel it says "flash" is turned on. But when I post it says it is off, over on the left hand side.

AP might have some competition

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqwURgmso-U This guy has his ridge flying down, just like AP. Watch him keep directing kite off to the right to stay on the ridge line. Looks like he catches a huge updraft off the steep nose of that ridge and then it fades as goes out over the bowl. Hey Tighe, why ca...

Re: Main page wind chart is in celsius now.

Hey D Menace, You can get your own customised version of that meteogram. Go to http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=45.08515722028692&lon=-92.98416137695312&site=mpx&smap=1&marine=0&unit=0&lg=en Scroll down to the Google Map and click to center on your preferred forec...

Re: Main page wind chart is in celsius now.

Tighe, I think your map is set on km/hr, because the wind is way to high. From the URL it looks like map reference point is centered somwhere around Theodore Wirth park, and the only way I can get those numbers is if I switch to km/hr. I think that automatically changes everything to metric which ex...

Re: T3 rigged 1/1 - how does it perform?

What bar should I use with the 11m the 23" or the 20"? Or is it personal preference depending on how fast you want the kite to turn?

My 9m is on a 20".

T3 rigged 1/1 - how does it perform?

I just got a good deal on an '08 T3 - 11m, but the Full Stroke bars are still pretty pricey. How does the kite fly with the Direct Drive bar with the bridle in the 1/1 configuration? Do you lose much of your depower ability? I have an extra '07 T2 bar that look like it is only lacking 1 or 2 parts t...

Re: Kites as the Future of Renewable Energy

OK...good thinking. But so you go above the thunderstorms, 35,000 ft. Thats 6 miles of kite lines. They weight of the lines ruins the equation. This concept works on paper but I just don't see the practical application. I've seen the Kite Powered ships. These make a little more sense in that they ar...

Re: Kites as the Future of Renewable Energy

oK...I've seen these kite power scenarios for a number of years. Great ideas, but can they be applied in real life weather situations. What the heck happens when thunderstorms hit, or a sudden wind shift. We've all seen the wind switch 180° in 2 minutes when a summer cold front hits. These devices n...

I met & spoke with the creator of that woodwork at last years swap meet. He had some items for sale that had that same look. He was from Worthington, I think. So I am assuming it is the same guy. I am sure someone on the forum knows his name. His work was beautiful.

Unfortunetly Kurt I will have to sheepishly decline the 2009 Ice Breaker award. This ruse has gone on long enough. Normandale Lake is so small it makes Calhoun look like Mille Lacs. My misspelled reference to Katabatic winds coming off the North slope of Hyland was supposed to be the dead give away....

Man, I just had a great session. Drysuit was toasty. Totally nailing it for the joggers on Chalet road. Kabatic winds off Hylands north slope were perfect.

Hey Jim, I always put in a club or two, right on top. If they ever look you are totally legit. You've got two golf clubs and your nylon tent for camping. :)

Re: Airline Bag Fees

I've always had great luck using the Deceiver and keeping it under 50lbs. A Spleene Session which is 140m cm will just fit. So I fit in 2 boards & 3 kites. I've also put bars and pumps in a different bag to keep the weight down. I would suck the air out of the kites before packing, makes tham wa...

Re: Anyone else ever have this happen?

From years of kiting I have found that any line including the Cl can get wrapped around anything else in your bar system. It's Murphys Law or the "$hit happens" law. The best practice is to prepare for the worst case scenario. I actually had my entire bar get jammed under the hook once (ch...

Yea the announcer needs to go. When you drive from Boise to Sun Valley you see that type of terrain for 50 miles or more. You can just pull over on the road anywhere and launch. Soldier seems to have everything to offer in a compact area though.
