Winnibigoshish is one of the best kiting spots in the in the state. I highly reccomend it!
I have only been to Tamarac point but it is spectacular and there are some good looking spots on the West side as well!

Re: Tapping the Weather Knowledge of Tighe, Stroh and Kevin
On September 10th 2010 they stopped going past 24hrs in the forecast, so everything past 24hrs is an old forecast. I’m not sure why they haven't deleted the old stuff that they no longer update... I wish they would it looks too good and gets your hopes up! I have that picture memorized now from seei...

Re: Board Basics
Netdewt, not many people go to this section, you will get a larger response posting in chat. Most of the time good informative topics get moved to this section. Kiting is soooo much easier to than wakeboarding because all the power goes into your harness, kites will also pick you up out of the water...

http://ready.arl.noaa.gov/READY_animations.php I use the NAM and GFS for mid to long range forecasts, the day before and of, I use RUC (noaa exptl.) Wind blows clockwise and out from a high and counterclockwise and into a low. Take a look at tomorrow on the NAM we will be getting south winds as the ...

I offer lessons on Lake Winnibigoshish just north of longville. It's a great big lake with lots of shallow water... perfect for learning!

Re: West Coast of Superior
There are no real good spots for kiter on the north shore (MN)... it is possible but the launches are tight and filled with massive boulders. The wind typically turns NE on the western tip of lake superior regardless of the forecasted direction or the wind directions around the lake. Even if the for...

Re: Ozone Zephyr 17m
The relaunch method I am talking about is the same as a 5th line relaunch method… just without the 5th line. Kite (leading edge down) straight down wind of you, move towards the kite to roll it on its back then pull one back line to launch the kite. In really light wind I pull a center line on the o...

Re: Ozone Zephyr 17m
Yeah it’s hard to beat the relaunch of true bow kites, but I would rather have the minimal bar pressure of a hybrid and deal with the relaunch issues!
I would assume you can use the old school C kite relaunch method to get it off the water in under 10mph… but I haven’t had to try it yet!

Ozone Zephyr 17m
Just got my new Ozone Zephyr 17 in the mail yesterday! Both Brian and I took it for a ride when the wind died yesterday evening. The wind was between 10-12mph and the kite had plenty of power to get me cruising and jumping on my small board (130x40)! With a good light wind board I think this kite sh...
