Re: 2010 Octane 13 Review
Some of the reviews I have read suggest the Octane is a remake of the Rev and earlier reports point to backstalling issues. Have any Rev riders had a chance to compare. Isn't the T3 a totally different shape, kite? Wouldn't the Rev 13 be a better comparison?

Re: Like a Door
I weigh 176 in light winds I ride an older Session 141, it has a lot of range. My all around is a Nobile 666 132 X 41 again lots of range and pop. I have a Mako 151 which is great on big days in nasty chop and the surf. I've tried riding a directional, jybing is tricky, I'm really good on port, Corp...

Re: SPI - Patty's first ride!
Steve, I'm staying in the same condos where Rich Tillotson lives. I think his kites will be here shortly. I've been more successful in the Gulf on this trip, Its a blast. The wind has been great! Get down here. Say hi to the queen.

Winter Leader Lines for T3
After reading Jim's post I'm wondering if anyone has experienced any looping or snagging problems with Slingshot's more pliable winter leader lines. The lines have worked great this winter and I'm thinking about leaving them on for the summer. My kites seem faster. The down side is that in light air...

Sold the last of my small WS stuff at the swap in Padre this past Nov. Didn't think about ice. You are guaranteed 2 mos of smooth black ice.

Re: FYI: KITE ASSOCIATION PRO & CONS @MNADVENTURE
Three years ago potentially dangerous situations were reported at White Bear and Waconia. There were also issues that surfaced at Park Point with the surfers. 6-7 of us met several times with the idea of identifying common popular launch site problems and possible remedies. We concluded that major l...

Re: Water startup and shutdown techniques.
I think "teach" is the operative word. Jerry Sandel spent a lot of time teaching me how to drift launch. Jerry showed me how to put the kite over my head while unwrapping my lines in the water. It's easy to spot briddle tangles and line loops. We had a lot of under the kite time.....I miss...

Re: Water startup and shutdown techniques.
Tom L, I've been drifting the T3 perpendicular to the wind direction. As I release the kite I let go of the bar and back up wind as fast as I can go. A couple of times my 11 looked like it was going to roll or turn before it reached launch position but so far no mishaps there. With the bar in the wa...

Re: Cedar Lake
Leah, I live on the north side of Cedar. I've kited on the ice twice in 14 years, it wasn't very good. The bluffs on the east side create down drafts and holes. For water, the best wind would be NW and the only good launch sites would be the public beaches on the points or in the SE corner of the la...

Thanks, everyones tips/ experience is very helpful. Somehow I confused rolls and spins. Now when I visualize what I am going to do it will one or the other.

Re: Next Level Help....tips
Kurt you ANW guys have kept me in the games I like to play. :D I was watching you and Avery the other day at Ramsey and to Eric's point you were going in faster. I didn't pay attention to your kite or hand positioning on the bar. I was watching the hand position of the landboarder in Seth's post. He...

Re: Next Level Help....tips
In one of the recent Kiteboarding mags there was an article about a Best school where trampolines were used for spatial awareness. Made a lot of sense to me. Is Tumblemonster still doing that? I like the idea of talking to myself. I hope I'm listening. Seth I'm definitely going to get that back spin...

Re: Next Level Help....tips
Hey Seth, you accomplished exacttly what I was trying to do! One thing that struck me as I was reading your post; when initiating my spin or back roll I was never sure if I was going to try a flat spin, a board above head 360, or a vertical jumping spin. That visualzation was never part of the prep....

Next Level Help....tips
In late March early April I had 14 great days in Padre. I accomplished all my goals except...a simple back spin. The Progression CD is very straightforward re kite position, speed, use of legs for take off, head and shoulder rotation and hands mid bar. Somewhere after initiation about 70% of the tim...

Re: Thinking about hitting lake washington
Peter, happy to hear it wasn't a repeat of last year. Cold water shrinks everything else I wonder if those valve seats don't get loose when they come in contact with cold water? I'm looking forward to getting out there. Do you think Jerry will sing some new tunes this year?
