Like like Dixtance. Good resolution. Doesn't kill the battery too bad. Saves a nice track with stats.

Here's a shot of my 38 mile ride on Mille Lacs last winter.

Re: Diego? Cloud?

Diego,

Are you kiting much this winter? Any chance we could trade kites for a few passes? I'd love to try the Cloud.

Re: Skis to Snowboard ?

I agree with Jason. Just get out there and give it a go. I bet you'll figure it out pretty quick. Since you've been kiting for several years, you know how to use a kite to your advantage. The kite+control bar is sort of like hanging on to a hand rail and so I think it makes learning to use the snowb...

Good News! Turtle lake is drive-able!!

Three trucks out there Tuesday and a plow had gone across so I parked on the lake and rigged.

Fun & Fast day.

Lake Koronis?

I'll be at Lake Koronis, near Paynesville, MN, for a weekend... Any kiting suggestions? Best launches? It looks shallow and sandy on Google Earth. Weedy?

Re: Wet suit seam glue or repair glue suggestions?

Midwest Mountaineering has a neoprene repair shop. If you are unsure about succeeding at DYI repair, take it in have find out if they can pull it off and how much $$ that would require.

Re: Old timers

I think one of the factors with younger riders is that they are still choosing from a wider palette of pursuits and likely balancing more needs than us old guys... and good for them. Decades ago I dabbled in a wider array of ways to be active and have fun. I've trimmed many out as I have identified ...

Re: Please Read - No Tresspassing Waconia

Yes, we need to just never come out on that beautiful, enticing, grassy strip. If you know you're not going to stay upwind, just cut your losses and walk the shoreline back to the DNR launch as early as possible, or wrap your kite up small and climb the cliff up to the road. Stay off this guy's gras...

Re: Diego? Cloud?

Thanks Diego. I've seen you a couple of times from afar, and you look very much at home (and well powered) on it. BRM has some really innovative minimalist designs going. I'm very intrigued with the direction. I bought a Paipo about a month ago. Still exploring its broad potential and the fun laid-b...

Paipo Fun

I just love the attitude in this new BRM video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMfN4f4b5Xo About a month ago I ordered a Paipo from Boardriding Maui. I'd been shopping for a board that would major on just having fun on the water... a board that would let me play more, even in light conditions. And s...

Re: Blade 17M kite demo

Thanks Mike for letting me try the 17M Lady. Winds started out around 8-12 at first and increased a bit to I'd say 13-17 by the end of my 45 minutes with the kite. Compared to the 17M Zephyr I have I'd say: 1) Steeper power curve or response to wind speed, so jumps feel a bit more aggressive than th...

Re: How do you handle the mother ( superior ) on a BIG day ?

There's a SUP shop called "MN Surf" in Brainerd. I got the picture from their Facebook pictures cache. The owner goes up to Superior to surf. Here's another sweet picture. The waves on Superior can be pretty awesome. https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/302049_631192300228563_814576...

Re: How do you handle the mother ( superior ) on a BIG day ?

Here's a picture from Wednesday (5/22), 3rd day of the same storm. I think this picture was from Stoney Point. The shoreline is not as "friendly" for breakdowns as at Park Point, but the surfers say break characteristics are often less jumbled and more left to right (or the other way?) tha...
