I want to get some more action pics today myself, so folks, look for me standing in the water, Come by as close as you feel comfy with, a mast length is OK, as the camera is in a waterproof case. (I can only zoom 3X, so you...

I'm lucky enough to have sailed about 3-4 boards in the range you are looking at, about a month back while in Vela, Margarita. They have the F2 line, and my favoite was the Maui Project 245cm, 71L. I'm rarely on the really small stuff (@220lbs), but the few times I got to sail this, it was amazing! ...

Waconia fun!

The rides were hard to get Wednesday, as the wind didn't quite crank as forcast, and it was about 14-20mph with peak gusts around 30. Needless to say, the 10-15 of us at the DNR launch, had fun anyway! Plenty of kiters and sailors ripping it up, scoring fun points! I went out with the 6.5M, the 305 ...

Looks like the south side will get slightly more wind, and this sets up dandy at Cannon. I really prefer Waconia, for water quality, and I'm trying to decide on which site for the day tommorrow. I'm leaning towards the Wac, as this will be nice for some on the water photos in the shallows, (after th...

Looks like the experimental is showing more to the west and south of here. Cannon could be the best choice, with Waconia second. I'm trying to decide which one... thinking Wac, as it's closer. Anyone else?

Green or Waconia open yet?

With the wind in the 20ies forcast for Sat. I'd be up for a ride or two if the water is in liquid state! Just got back from Margarita, and would love to get back on the board! I hear Washington is open, and that might be the option. Drysuit ready! Anyone have more recent info on either of these lake...

On that BWCA trip, when I got to the entrance at the motorized portage at Vermillion/Trout lake the operator said he couldn't take that surfboard accross the portage, 'not a registered boat.' I showed him the sticker.. 'Well, it's a wind powered craft' was his next statement. I reminded him I payed ...

Coolest Slalom Sailing Nature Interaction. Sailing out of the 'Vela Cancun' center, when it was open 9 years ago, about a mile off shore, and a 3-8 ft oblong school of rainbow neon tetra fish, about 1-4 inches long each, swam alongside my board in the crystal blue carribean waters, and then burst ou...

Weather Geek I am, I admit to the obsession with the data, and most of the time experimental is right on, but Saturday was predicted less than the actual, and the models didn't look like it would be that light. The jetstream was still strong NW, and that almost always pushes some wind down to the su...

I have to thank you Eric, for the posts and the major karma points when you gave me a ride from Garrison beach back to Malmo to get my van and gear! Mille Lacs Crossing; I MADE IT!

Wow what a day of sailing!! Both Saturday and Sunday! Today was a bit light, but I just had to go for it! I've signed up 5 years in a row, and this was my first time I actually got accross!! Admittedly 35 out of 39 is nothing to write home about, but what a feeling of satisfaction to actually sail b...

Wild ride at Waconia!

Awesome day at Waconia! Haven't sailed since June! The first few minutes were tough to regain ballance and control in the gusts, but after a while the body/brain connection gelled, and the riding was a blast! I've been too busy with work, and not enough play! I've gotta do this more often! I was hav...
