Re: Twin City Lake Temps ~50F Apr 26

3-5mile range on vhf chnl 16, marine band radio, VHF (West Marine sells them). Medicine Lake doesn't reach, Minnetonka does, sherrif dept Hennepin County Water Patrol, HCWP. Boundary waters area has Coast Guard repeaters. Pardon my notes. Just went through local police who directed me to DNR where I...

Re: Twin City Lake Temps ~50F Apr 26

Good points. Without actually looking into it I will "assume" the Coast Guard in the Bay area likely have resources assigned to support what they use, I'm really not sure about here. I'll keep it in mind and try to find out. If anyone has a connection to local authorities or even wishes to...

Re: Twin City Lake Temps ~50F Apr 26

Riders reporting in from all over the place Ken, the kitesurf season has begun! Water temps are cold and it's important for all to plan on worse case scenerio with proper cold water attire. Did you know it's standard gear in San Francisco to have a coast guard radio on you while kiting? Several boot...

Kiter Etiquette

Kiting is fun! can be safe, for most all ages, lifelong and isn't gender specific. The joy and freedoms experienced find most in an endless pursuit. Fantastic reference books like these https://store.lakawa.com/product/tricktionary extend the learning beyond instruction and while in the wind. As goo...

Lost

By chance anyone find a new 9M 2015 Slingshot Rally? Not the bar or pump but new in plastic, bag and kite right off my store rack. I pulled 13 kites from my shop to bring to the Mille Lacs Event and now can't find it as I restock all my stuff not sold. Any help appreciated. Regards, Mike

What a fun time! I snagged a photo of you and wanted you to get it. Nothing too rad but keep in mind kiting is pretty rad even on it's most basic level:-) It's in here: https://www.facebook.com/lakawamn/photo ... =1&theater

1rst Class Event. Tuthill was right, you all set the bar really high. So fun, great time and memories created. Had to have been resource intensive for all but totally worth it. Thank you Jason. Hope to see you at our 11th Annual Crossing this weekend http://fleet8.com/?page_id=312

Re: Mille Lacs Kite Crossing March 6-8

Really cool pics. I got to do that. Snow band hitting now. Winds and temps along with a few more days will keep the surface a mystery yet. Even if icy still the surface will be fast so less tiring:-) I've got a wax station ready if you wish to get that done on the spot for best surface wax and effic...

Re: Drive On!!

I was on Mille Lacs with Twin Cities Live KARE11 last Tuesday. The surface was 50% covered. As it would have it with winds and media it was quite light. The piece airs tomorrow, Tuesday, not sure what time there show is. They are featuring that area for tourism in general and not even sure our filmi...

Excellent share Warren. I went off into the music world and recalled quickly songs titled My Hometown by Springsteen, Eric Church, and my fave Charlie Robison. You captured some wonderful imagery.

Re: Ice thickness

Four of us were all over Medicine lake from 3-6pm. I asked the few fisherman there and they all said easily 6"+. Well stated about ice safety and thanks for the report. A smooth layer about 1-2" of snow covers 98% of Medicine lake. Great for skates, switchblade, or skis. Wonderful riding i...
