Re: Submersible radios

If you could bring your iphone then your friends could use the new 'Find my Friends' app to exactly locate your position using gps if something unfortunate were to happen.

Re: Possible Father Hennepin Friday?

Father Hennepin has incredible swell/waves, especially the last two NWesters that came through. The big glossy stuff is out east of the beach and boat launch. A while back someone started calling them school bus size on a big day and I was thinking of that on the >40 mph day as they were huge....

Let us know how it turned out. I would think we won't see good winds on ML til Thursday afternoon and Friday looks sweet.

Re: Mille Lacs Thursday

looks like it's going to be crazy windy so the school bus waves should be coming down the lake   what time do you plan to arrive Randy? Doesn't matter where you go - tomorrow will be great! KO PS Have you seen the 10 day mrf? Next week looks like we're in the gorge or padre with a stro...

Re: Sat Oct. 1: Nuker?

You got me.. I posted the picture of Monday because I think that will be the best wind and now NOAA seems to agree showing 20-30 mph Monday afternoon in Duluth. Should be balmy as duluth days go. I think I can leave work at 12 if I get some stuff done today. Any others thinking of going Monday? KO

Re: Sat Oct. 1: Nuker?

I dont' think we'll need to wait til next Saturday for wind. That low that brought us the good winds on Tuesday and Wednesday is backtracking and heading back west because it is blocked from going east. Real weird weather pattern. I think it will bring us and Duluth some NE winds on Sunday and into ...

Re: Sat Oct. 1: Nuker?

Geo I agree! I mentioned that it looked good next Saturday to Max because that 10 day mrf was looking good. A lot can change over 10 days this time of year. If it pans out the wind will be SE because that is a low pressure off to the west and they spin counterclockwise so isobars go from south to no...

Re: Mille Lacs Wedneday 9/21 ?

Father Hennepin was perfect yesterday with the steady wind in upper 20s, fun swell to play on and a super group to share it with. That was easily my best session of the year and one of the funnest small kite jumping conditions I've been in because we had great port ramps and the wind was so good dow...

Re: Wind Advisory

I still think it will blow good later today, especially at Wac because it is further s and west (further from center of low) but still will be surprised if it's blowing 40 (20s makes sense there). Could be a lot more wind at Wac then up at wb, not to mention direction (sw-w) much better for kiting. ...

Re: Wind Advisory

I hope I'm wrong but I think NOAA is waaay to bullish on their forecast for gusts to 40 tomorrow. If rain doesn't wreck it I think they'll be a nice session in the morning followed by lighter winds and then stronger winds later in the day. Iwindsurf is also calling for mid 20s at ml all afternoon bu...

Re: What's a better kite?

If you weigh 170+ or so then I think you 'need' a light wind kite (eg 14m ish) if you want to get out in the 8-20 mph days. the 11m TD has great range and will get you going in 13-15 mph but not ripping up wind or jumping like a bigger kite will. Also if your just learning I believe you'll be less e...

Re: Full Moon Rising Riding

They say a picture is worth a 1000 words but I haven't seen a moonlight picture that can replace your poetry Tighe. I think there was about 50 people on the water at different times yesterday about half kiters and half windsurfers. Everyone grinning. I'm finally coming off the adrenaline rush from l...

Re: Tuesday looking good

That front sped up so that now it is sweeping through Monday dinner time. That's good and bad news... bad news is the longest lasting best wind will be during dark hours monday night. Good news: I think they'll be a good 'warm' session to be had monday afternoon evening. I don't know if I could make...

Tuesday looking good

For the last 5 days the 10 day mrf has showed a strong cold front moving through next Monday night. Could be some warm southerlies ahead of it and then Tuesday looks like a colder NWester, probably more wind up north (ie Father Hennepin @ Mille Lacs should be 15-25 in morning). Note the huge color c...

Some of the best snorkeling in world there in Akumal bay. So many other cool things to do too like go to t...

Re: what a great weekend of wind

I was longing for wind and got out about 3 hours each on Thursday at WB, and Saturday + Sunday on Shell Lake so now feel re-energized!! Saturday evening far exceeded my expectations as the wind came up to 20-30 mph and my friend, Nick, and I kited until the gorgeous sunset. Sunday Roger Burke joined...
