If gathering at garrison area where do ya all park ? Dose everyone just drive out on the lake?
I'm hoping to be up there. If I dont make it everyone have a great time and Bryce I'm really interested in the kite camping idea. Later ML

Re: Skyline Drive, Utah?
Once your in the air there wont be any sideon wind dir. the kites leading edge will be into the wind and you'll be dangling below it and you will be moving the dir. that the wind is blowing. Thats the only option you really have unless you gain alot of altitude and these kites have some forward spee...

Re: Night - Lights or Not?
I spend alot of time out at night. I picked up a Petzel light that straps around anything. It works great for setting up then when I'm cruising if others are around I just put it on the Red blinky mode otherwise turn it off. Midwest has them and they come in handy for all sorts of things you cant go...

Well I'm glad everything worked out. Kites can be fixed or replaced. You had me going with the Shark thing glad that wasn't real. That wouldn't have ended well. Thanks for sharing that experience. Mark L.

Re: What are the options????
For those of you that have been to Coburns. How much snow do we need to make that work? That area looks like it could be alot of fun. Yesterday I was at Calhoun and walked out on that dock and was still able to break through the ice with a hockey stick. Now if only there was a board that worked on w...

So where is this place again? I think I went by it on the way to Millacs once but still wasn't sure where people were kiting near there. Only wound up with a couple inches in my neighborhood I was really hoping for more snow. Oh well. Maybe I'll see ya up there.

I'm thinking about heading to kite island around 9pm and go all night. Fri I was at whitebear from about 3am till sunrise and it was great nice fresh snow and cruising in silence. One person actually startled me when he opened his fish house door and said Hi as I went by. Mark L

Re: Wild Rice Lake up in Duluth
Was up on this lake last Saturday. Perfect day, steady wind until the front came in. Few inches of powder over hard packed. A few fish houses and ice roads to watch out for or jump over if you dare! Might head back up there again if there is wind this weekend! Check out the gallery for a few picks!...

Re: Saturday kite spots
I think we should organize and rob banks at night so we can ride during the day. I have it all figured out, but everyone just laughs at me. ...except Nick Peterson. He was down with it! Sounds like a possibility. Just one thought though do the banks even have any money in them? I would hate ...

I've been kicking around the idea of heading out that way for both events and kiting anywhere I can for the week between. Just not really sure I want to spend that much money right now. Who knows.

Or you could wrap your needle nose with some electrical tape. That should do the trick.
