Re: Lake Michigan Trip nice start.......!
Hey George, I missed NE dawn patrol this morning due to a late night after the Michigan-Notre Dame game! The wind went easterly and calmed down during the day and then clocked back to the north about 5:00 p.m. at about 15-20 mph for a hour, enough for a short 11m session. Did you guys get some? Tomo...

Re: Lake Michigan Trip nice start.......!
Hey magicninja, glad to see you're getting some of this great wind! We've had an incredibly breezy summer on northern Lake Michigan. The next three days look solid. Post if you're headed to Leland and I'll come ride with you.

Re: recommendations, midwest family vacation spot with kitin
Second Mike's suggestion: if you want to kite in the summer head to the Big Lake. Both Door County and the southern shore of the UP have miles of ridable coast and lots of family things to do.

Re: Lake Michigan kiting ( Michigan shoreline)
Hey, TV, right on! Re-reading my post I see I inadvertently mixed up my cool/highs and hot/lows! A good a sea breeze is may come up later in the day is when the dunes are almost too hot to walk barefoot on at noon. Hot air starts rising, creating a vacuum, cool air starts moving . . . time to rig! G...

Re: Lake Michigan kiting ( Michigan shoreline)
I spend the summer on northern Lake Michigan on the Leelanau peninsula. We ride 3-4 sessions per week from June through August on 10-20 knot southerlies and and an occasional stronger cold front from the northwest. Later in July and August, when frontal winds aren't present, parts of the coast get a...

Re: Seeking Advice: kite for my 11 and 9 year old daughters
I have a 13 year-old daughter. For what it's worth, here's the path I've taken: She started flying a 3m trainer on the beach this year. She has been alpine ski racing since she could walk and is fully dialed, a decent wake boarder and small boat sailor, and a strong swimmer. I've told that if and wh...

Re: Question for SS experts : safety leash to depower cord
Hey David, I'm not an SS expert, just a loyal user of their products. Rather than attach the leash as you suggest, I'd call SS and explain the situation. If they mistakenly sent a wrong part my experience is they will make right on it asap.
Cheers,

Dakine Nitrous harness for kiting?
I have been kiting for about 10 years, always with a Dakine Tabu waist harness. I'm due for a new harness and interested in the Dakine Nitrous shorts which many around here seem to enjoy. Any thoughts on differences between waist v. shorts harnesses for kiting? Thanks!

Awesome, Pete! Wish I had made it. It's crazy sometimes how the biggest cleanest swells are not always due to nuclear winds.

Re: Saturday's wind?
Jim, there is no "junk" or algae bloom in Cannon right now. I rode there yesterday and it's fine. In fact, with the rains last week the lake (actually a river) is about as clear and clean as it gets. A DNR official once told me that with increased flows due to rain the water in the lake wi...
