Re: Best wind August I can remember

Amazing week. Tuesday, Judd and I had perfect 12M kite conditions in Duluth, Wednesday was junky wind, Thursday was perfect blue sky 12M kite on Forest Lake, Saturday was 4-4.5M at Lake St. Croix with Jonathan Townsend, and Sunday was 4m (8m kite) at Hunters on Lake Mille Lacs with Judd, Dianne and ...

Best wind August I can remember

Usually we try to schedule our windsport trips end of July to end of August. That would be a big mistake this year. I can't remember in my past 30+ years here an August with this kind of wind. All the SUP instructors are complaining.

August 8- Forest Lake Event

Almost fifteen years ago we hosted a windsurf event with exhibition kiting from our core experienced riders at the time. The location was Forest Lake's Lakeside Memorial Park. A lot's happened since then and now the City of Forest Lake has stepped up to sponsor the Northern Lights Paddle, Yoga and M...

Re: Nancy.

Such a great turnout to memorialize Nancy's life from the music, kite, and windsurf community. Now I wish we would have taken photos of all who were there. I'll let someone from the kiting community fill in the names, but from the old guard windsurf community, it was great to see: Henry and Linda Wi...

Big Marine is lit

Just came back from a walk at Washington County Big Marine Park and it's full on 10-12M, coming down a three mile fetch. The swimming beach is closed and it's an ideal launch from there. Bummed because I have a commitment I can't get out of. But, knowing how challenging it is to find a good N/NE loc...

Re: Duluth Sunday?!

So hungry. Thanks for the great report Geoff. Anybody make it up yesterday? Brian, I'm starting to know how you've felt stuck at work when Mother begs our calling. These are the finest days of the season and such a treat when the wind turns on. Thinking of a south shore fall tour, Duluth to Picture ...

So glad you guys made it up. Not in the plans for me today, but so jealous. Looks like it turned NE for you. Need a recap to sooth my pain.

Dawn patrol heaven

My favorite sessions at the Gorge have always been dawn patrol at the Hatchery or Swell. This morning, Forest Lake had a lot of that feel. Beautiful sunrise, steady 20mph wind, warm water/warm air, and just me and another fisherman on the water. Switching between the 11m Nomad kite and my 6.6M Loft ...

Re: Superior

Thanks, George. Perhaps the best compliment a person could receive, one to be shared with my five year old grand children who know this oh too well. Bryan, we missed you on the water and at Fitgers for our after sail brew. Yes, they got some good jumps of Judd, but they didn't get a couple 30' ones ...

Re: Superior

Had a great day at Tot Lot with Judd, Dianne and Chris. Just a couple points of info. The water was much warmer than we expected, close to 50 degrees. There wasn't much beach for launching kite at either Tot Lot or 22nd, so take special care launching when wind is directly onshore. There's a lot of ...

Heavenly Tuesday

We've got a great base of fluffy powder on Forest Lake, forecast for more tonight, and 20 mph winds tomorrow. It's been awhile since I've been in such a perfect setup for limitless powder runs. Hope everyone can get a piece of it.

Skimbat Heaven

I cried the blues when I missed the black ice. Had sold my Freeskate and ice skates a few years back, but thank God I kept my Skimbat and 183 Race snowboard. Yesterday, bar the colder temps, was perfect Skimbat weather...just enough texture on the ice for grip, but barely enough to slow the speed. W...
