Thanks Dave -

Its great to see the excitement of someone discovering the the Real Superior for the first time. I've sailed the point for about 24 years and can still count on one hand the people that come to enjoy it in all its moods. Hope to see you out there on the next big day.

Looks like all of the Duluth contingent are up for it today. Chip, Chris, Jon and Ben are all committed to sailing on Superior - probably at the Tot lot. We expect to see some company. With the warm weather near the lake the past few days, the water should be sligthly warmer that when you were in it...

You guys are sick!

Doesn't anybody think it a bit sick that this entire group has read a post from 1:40 am by 6:00 am the next morning?? Maybe you need some fanatic sports activity to keep you occupied..... try windsurfing or kiting..

Still have ice

Went camping in the UP of Michigan over the Momorial Day weekend. On the way back, driving West on US 2 out of Ironwood, you can see Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands. There, tucked in along the shoreline near Saxon Harbor was a 3 mile wide ribbon of ice!

On big days (above 40 MPH) Don't try to go outside. The sailing is better on the inside of break zone when it is that big anyway. Sail within 200 feet of shore on the flat between the mushers. It makes a great speed zone with increadible flat water. If you need a little air, poke out to the edge of ...

Add to that - A. Don't let a mushed wave catch you square on the rail. Twist your board up and over or the board will be swept out from under you. B. When you go down in the shore break (not if), bring your rig to windward with you. If your rig goes down to leward and the next wave gets to it before...

Duluth Weather Station

For anyone who is interested, here is the http for a personal weather station (from weather underground) located on Park Point, half way between the two favored launch sites. It gives almost realtime and graphed historical wind data. This weather station tends to be more reliable than Sky Harbor as ...

Randy - Things were equally hot up in Duluth Sunday. When you can see gusts coming across the lake and the water is whipping up like snow does in the winter.... you know you are in trouble. Scott, Chris, Ben and I got in about 2-3 hours... No sail was right of course. At 230 pounds I was getting my ...
