Quetzalcoatl speaks: if you see a good deal, DON'T Wait!!

If you see a good deal on wind equipment,,don't hesitate and pontificate,,"Ya gotta go for it now!"
Otherwise someone else will get it first or the owner might have a change of mind and just keep it!

Go for it! (at least make some inquires,,,but soon!)

Windsurf Man speaks: If U rent gear (Relax!! don't gripe)

If you travel to a Windsurf/Kiteboard destination and rent from a shop,,, just be glad you've got something to sail with. No,,,it's not going to be as good as your stuff! Windsurf/Kiteboard shops can't possibly keep up with the demand of equipment and especially the wear and tear that rental equipme...

Re: I am now to be called, "WINDSURF MAN" (my new persona)..

WOW Bill, What a post!

Your post was well worth waiting for! These are the words, the expressions, descriptions (the prose) that I was accustomed to reading on LAKAWA when I took up windsurfing back in 2001.

Thank YOU!

I am now to be called, "WINDSURF MAN" (my new persona)...

Say folks: we need a little humor at this time...And I am taking it upon myself to take on a new "Persona" (of course my main name is "Quetzalcoatl") but I shall call myself "Windsurf Man." No, I'm not at all a great windsurfer,,,I mean I can sail in 37 mph on a 85 lite...

Do "Windsports folks" communicate by just texting now?

I think (and this is just my astute observation) that "wind people" tend to communicate through text messaging now in place of using their vocal cords and making a phone call. Partly I think there is a "fear factor" involved. When you text message, YOU have complete control of th...

Are you part of the 28.6% or the 100%?

It's hard to believe with windsurfing on my mind 24 seven, that I really only have a CHANCE to get out on the water 28.6% of any given week (and that's if I'm lucky to have wind)! This is due to the fact that I work Monday through Friday (dayshift) and only have the weekend free. What about those of...

If weekends are all you get to sail, then U need a big board

A big windsurf board ensures that you'll get "some" good fast windsurfing at least on a fairly regular basis. If you work a day shift Monday through Friday (like I do) then we only get two days out of the seven days in a week to sail. That means we have to hope that there's decent wind on ...

Re: The Boarder Hoarder hasn't bought a board in 6 months...

I think my Techno 148 will be for sale or possibly trade for a 115-125L board. Mmm....I might have a board to trade ya for it....but my Bodega (windsurf wearhouse) has the door frozen shut. I might have to wait for a mid January thaw to get to it. I've got in my mind a 125 liter "Swiss made&qu...

The benefits of ordering in a boardshop vs on-line

My last S. Padre Island trip (in Dec.) was warm when it started,,,three days of upper 70's and 20ish wind. But on the fourth day, the air temp dropped to 43 and North wind blowing at 37 mph. I deliberately left my hood at home. SO, I deliberately made a "B-line to a kiteboard shop (Air Padre) w...

The Boarder Hoarder hasn't bought a board in 6 months.....

Happy New Year to all wind boarders! Nice today (warm) and sunny air temps. around 30. Not much wind today. Of course on the ice you don't want too much either. On ice there's almost no friction to deal with. SO: an iceboat (like a DN or Nite) or a winter kiteboard can go four times the speed of the...

I Love to carry the smell of the sea onto the airplane....

It is so convenient to be able (always on my last day) to go windsurfing all day and then catch the "night flight" to go back to the land of Snow and 4:30 darkness. On South Padre Island, (at Windsurf Inc./South Padre kiteboarding) I sometimes take advantage of the free hot showers (I brin...

Say: "Fellow "People of the Wind"..... I think that maybe it's not the "Facebook Craze" that is causing sailors NOT to chime in on Lawaka chat,,,(Maybe partly the cause) but Maybe some of YOU just don't know HOW to register in order to contribute or answer posts on the Lakaw...

JUst back from S. Padre, scored five days of Planing! 80 deg

Just got back from S. Padre Island last night on a Sun country "night flight!" Yeah! loved the 74 degrees night air temp when I arrived at Harlingen, TX airport. Sailed from Philip Money's Windsurf Inc./South Padre Kiteboarding for two days of 78 degrees with 20ish mph South wind,,then thr...

Re: HOW DO WINTER BOOTS fit into footstraps on Snowfer/icebr

Hey Mike: Thanks for your info. on Snowfers. I couldn't answer till now because I just got back last night (midnight:30) on a Sun Country flight from S. Padre. Five days straight of Planing.....! Two days of 80 air temp and 20ish S. Winds. All changed to North winds and 30's winds and 43 degree air ...

Re: HOW DO WINTER BOOTS fit into footstraps on Snowfer/icebr

Thanks to "The Man from Madrid" for your response. Yah Mike, this I DO believe is a true bonifide "Snowfer", because it has skis (K2 downhill) mounted under an Elaine Snowboard. This it can work on ice,,but it's really designed for snow,,,when the snow is too deep to go iceboatin...

HOW DO WINTER BOOTS fit into footstraps on Snowfer/icebrd?

Hey Ice surfers! A question to you all. I Now own a SNOWFER. So,,,,the footstraps look to be big enough to fit tennis shoes or my windsurf booties. Do people use BIG winter boots or should I just go out into the windstorms (blizzards) with my 6mm thick water booties? The straps that are on this boar...
