Congradulations:
So glad to hear you are riding. It took me a long time this spring to finally get up on a board and ride. I to could only ride one direction at 1st. Now I am not even sure which side was weak. Things even out after a while.
The fun has just begun:

Minnetonka ready to ride.
Just spent 2.5 hours out riding tonka. Conditions were great. I was powered up on a t2 14. I was able to hold my edge fine. Most of the line snaggers are covered in snow. Because the snow started wet and it got cold it is all glued nice to the ice.

Can any device make these conditions rideable.
I am suffering kitting withdrawl. Would a switch blade work on these rough conditions. Also is their a danger with line snags on this rough ice surface.

Re: Any lakes survived the meltdown?
Tonka is destroyed:
The ice is still thick. But that nice fluffy snow is gone. To make matters worse. The Atv's, sleds and cars made tracks in the slush that are now frozen into tripping devices, that will below the next new snow. It will take a few snow storms to fix the damage.
Be safe:

Hi Jerry:
Glad your shoulder has healed. Did you mount the switch blade on your Best snow kite board. Or do you have an old used board you mount the switch blade on . Saving the best for when the snow is stuck to the ice.
I am thinking of expanding my riding options. I currently use skis.

Re: ANY ONE kiting yet?
Many smaller bays on tonka are safe larger bays and main lake are not safe. I kited phelps bay and rode between islands into spring park bay saturday 12/6. I just used my skiis. Snow that was on the lake has blown around. causing many areas of bear ice. Where snow is present it is glued to ice good....

Phelps bay and Spring Park bay have good ice. But bigger bays are not safe. Main Lake is still open water. We need a cold night with no wind. I might get out this weekend on Pheps or Spring Park Bay.

That sounds like alot of fun. I like aqua seal. It can be purchased at Midwest mountaineering or REI. I use it any time I see stiching starting to fray. Clean the area with alchohol. then a small dag of aquaseal. The next day it is dry and ready to go. Also small tears can be hand stiched with a str...
