Re: Where is the duluth crew going tomorow?
Nope, I probably won’t be able to get out until Friday. I might be able to squeeze in a session on Wednesday afternoon... but the chances are slim.

Re: Where is the duluth crew going tomorow?
Rice lake will work great on all directions... you just need to ride over to the leeward side of the lake.

Re: Where is the duluth crew going tomorow?
Island is slow to freeze. I checked it out last wednesday... north side was 100% open, and south side had a half inch of ice with lots of open spots... I dont thing it will be safe for another week or so.

Re: Ice on Rice
Just checked out rice lake. Looks like about 95% of the lake has about two inches of nicely bonded snow. I only checked the thickness infront of the launch, it was only 2-3 inches, so I think this snowstorm might make it slushy

Ice on Rice
Just checked rice lake... there was about 1 inch near the boat launch! the north 1/3 is froze over but it looked like the southern 2/3s of the lake was still mostly open... same as last year.
with temps in the single digits for lows it should be ready to ride by next week sometime.

I don't think there will be enough left to get a good session tomorrow.
I will get a report in the morning and let you know what it's looking like.

not sure if Corny would work... you need a North wind for that spot, Herbster would be better

Re: Wind in Duluth
I am guessing it wont rain to hard on park point... probably just drizzle the whole time with a few spurts of rain!
I just got a look at the lake on my lunchbreak... it's looking good!
ETA 5:00 pm unless I decide to skip some school (probably not a good idea)

Re: Mouth of the Middle?
not sure how it worked but if you’re planning or riding side shore I would recommend one of the points like the mouth of the Amnicon or Brule rivers, Herbster, or for more of a side onshore. The middle river is in a spot that wouldn't be a good spot for sideshore... its protected by a point to the N...

just signed up! should be a great event, it always is! $45 or the race only option of $30 isn't that much to spend for the event so come on people, just sign up, don't wait for the forecast.
