Re: West Side Windsurfing Option for SSE to E
Hi Mark, Yes. I've sailed there a few times. Good on any easterly. Less boat traffic than Wayzata bay. The arrow in the picture isn't on the the Mound beach. The Mound beach is off of 110. Near the spot called "Bay Park" in your picture. I think the wind gets better if you head south into ...

Re: Windsurfing at Wayzata Bay
One more thing about the beaches in Wayzata and Mound. If there's a lifeguard on duty, I always tell them, before I launch, that I'll be launching to the outside of the swimming area (it's not easy -- the doing, not the telling). And no matter what, I don't sail into the swimming area ( lifeguard or...

Mound works too.
Nice post. I've had some nice sessions sailing out of the beach in Wayzata. On an east, I think you're better of staying in Wayzata bay. On the main lower, you'd be on the east side so it would be off-shore. But I've never tried it so who knows. Yesterday, at about 3:00, I drove to Wayzata and took ...

Re: NNW
I think so. Better than DRAG. I was at Wac Yesterday and it came right into shore. It might have had a bit more west in it.
Looks good today and tommorrow. I'm really beat but I'm planning on heading out to wac this afternoon.
Hope to see you there.
Chris

Re: Kiting Otter Lake? Sunday...
If it's the same as 5 years ago, there is a reed bed and it's chest deep past the reeds. There is a channel thru the reeds. I walked my rig thru the channel. It's like the DNR launch at lake Washington. Jerry and Jeff were there. Maybe they'll pipe in. If there's wind up there on Sunday, I might ven...

Re: Head West
There is a small launch on the west side of Washington. It's good on any kind of east. Probably not great for kiting. I'm not sure. It's hard to find. (See below. I think it's correct. I used memory and google maps.) Head west on 12. Go past Dassel and go past the gun club. Turn left on 233rd. Then ...

Re: Lake Washington run on Saturday ?
FYI:
There is a launch on the far west side of Washington. It's a dead end street -- kind of hard to find. Just a dirt road down to the water. I used to go there when I worked in Hutch. Not much room. Not at all like the gun club. But nice on an ESE if you work your way up.

Everybody have fun today.
Everybody wang chung today – except me. I don’t know what hurts more, the tattoo I got yesterday or not being able to be on the water today. Several years ago, I had lasik eye surgery and I went windsurfing the next day – at Cannon! Am I older and wiser or am I older wussy-err?

About 4 years ago, I switched to a full baggy -- for windurfing. I really like the full baggy. You can put thick or thin layers (I like poly pro) under the baggy. And it's easy to get on and off. I get tossed all the time and I make it back to my rig -- no problem. Maybe the wind blows me the same r...

Welcome to the wonderful world of wind and water (mylar, x-ply, carbon etc). For one sail, I recommend a 6.0 to 6.5. Somewhere around 7, sails start to feel big. It's the feeling of swinging a barn door. Once they get going, they want to keep going. It's not something I want when I'm learning. Below...

According to Wikipedia:
Johnston Island did not become a wildlife refuge. And, it might be up for auction!
I'm looking for partners. Guaranteed nuclear conditions.

I scanned the list and saw Johnston Island with the highest summer average. So I googled it and found this link:
http://www.janeresture.com/johnston/
According to the site, Johnston Island was, until a few years ago, our chemical weapons\plutonium dump site. And now it's a wildlife refuge.
Geez.

I've made 10 trips to Maui. I like Hookipa Haven for lodging and Al West for Van Rental. (They'll want you to do both. So tell Hookipa that you already have van and tell Al that you already have a place.) I wouldn't commit to one source for gear. Get your van. Drive around to the shops and take your...

I agree with Jerry about the NE Washington Launch on an East. There is a launch on the West Side of Washington. It works better on an East. It's not much more that a dirt road. Green might be good today. And there is the whole Wilmar bunch -- namely Ann. It's always good to see Ann. And Jerry, what ...
