I work in Clear Lake a couple times a month and am going to throw in the kites one of these days. I know there is the beach in town, but where would you launch on a NW wind? An overview of the launches would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Spirit Report
Spirit was decent on a 15m for about an hour after work. It is warming up nicely. I think that will be the last drysuit session on Spirit this spring.

What's wrong with downwinders!? I love them and do them every chance I get. If the wind is less than ideal you have two choices, use every bit of power to stay upwind or jump, play, and do a downwinder. The answer is simple. Anyway, just keep at it and it will happen. Just enjoy your time on the wat...

First Ride on Spirit!
Rode Spirit in the water today. Had to chip some ice to get to the water and had to go through some ice to get back, but a good ride. There were ice fisherman still on the south side of the lake. Spirit is now 75% open on the north side. It should be good tomorrow 65F and 15-25 winds from the south....

Well there were still ice fisherman on Spirit last weekend and pretty solid looking. There was a big open spot on the North side about a month ago so it might be OK. There are several open spots on a couple the other lakes that might be ridable. I'll make a run up to Spirit tonight and report any go...

Larry, Glad to hear you made it out down in Des Moines. I actually had my drysuit on and laying out my lines and ended up deciding the situation was not safe where there was open water. So, I put my skis on and had a fast ice session in shorts. I was going for both ice and water in the same day, but...

Well, I didn't see any of you MN folks but I guess I really didn't know who to look for. I had a great first trip to Padre. We rode all but one day and the weather was great. If you have 12 minutes, here is Jesse and I kiteboarding at the South Flats. http://www.kiteboardokoboji.com/padrevideo.htm C...

They sent the crew to rescue me on the ice last winter while I was warming up at the Dry Dock Lounge with a coffee. They thought my B6 foil and my skis were the remnants of an ice fisherman who went through. I could see my gear from the Dry Dock, but I could not see the parking lot where the cops we...

Padre for Thanksgiving?
The Okoboji folks (well, that's Jesse and I) are heading to Padre for the week of Thanksgiving. Anyone else going to be down then?

Eric, I did swim right out in front of those condos. Didn't think of that. I didn't get sick. There were signs up for health hazards, but not from sewage but SHARKS! See the shark nets in the back of this picture. http://home.mchsi.com/~cjp4/image/rb003.jpg I also found a website for a sho...

Hey Luiz, I was in Hong Kong last November. There are some great beaches around Stanley and Repulse Bay. I was looking around for kiteboarding gear rental and found this site http://www.windsurfing.org.hk/ . Not sure what's there. I love Hong Kong and plan on returning soon. Here are my pictures fro...
