Re: Mark your Calendars... The Mille Lacs Crossing is coming

We always have a great time at The Crossing!! Mike Fox spends alot of energy to make sure things are right for this big event, but Mother Nature sometimes has her own agenda around lake Mille Lacs. Nice to see so many kiters rigged and ready to go! I felt for you all when there wasn't enough wind to...

Re: Mille Lacs Crossing Advice - Windsurfing

Aside from the very important safety aspects that Steve mentioned, here's my take on the Crossing from a windsurfer perspective: - Longboards are usually the call, but maybe not so much now with the out-n'-back race format. - Rig big if you want to be competitive. There are usually lulls in the wind...

Re: THE CROSSING.... or Biathlon

I've always thought about having one windsurfer name & kiter name drawn randomly to create a team. The 'team' would combine their respective times at the end of the event. We could have a mystery time (chosen by the Race Committee?) that the team closest to would get recognition for. Also kind o...

Re: daycare at the crossing?

Our daughter Stephanie (14yrs old) is coming with us to The Crossing, so we will be able to provide some day care if needed. Steve and Kelly Johnson's kids are currently on 'the list'. Xbox 360/Rock Band will be on tap in our room...I hope the girls like music :P

Cheers!

Re: Waconia Wind&Wave

We had great conditions for racing longboards on Saturday and Sunday at Waconia. Steve Johnson was the overall winner, Peter Hartwich 2nd and myself 3rd. The Saturday night party meal of shrimp, sweet corn, potatos and salad put on by Mike fox & crew was awesome! Great to catch up with fellow wi...

Re: Gathering on the 12 th of July.

As Fleet Captain for the Dryden Yacht Club, it's my duty of organizing the sailboat regattas for the season. Nothing says that we have to partcipate in those regattas , just make sure they get organized and completed. I'm working on getting someone in place to do that task this weekend so we ca...

Moose Regatta post

I finally found some time to make a post on my website about our fun-filled Moose Regatta . As some of you know, countless hours goes into organizing and executing an event. A big big thanks go out to Mike Fox who managed race committee, to some of my bro's from my hockey team who dedicate themselve...

Re: The MOOOOOOOSE REGATTA!

Nice is the only way we know how Bill! Just a couple of tips for those of you making the trek. 1) Buy your beer in the USA before heading into Canada because it's WAY cheaper in the states. Every person is allowed 24 cans/bottles duty free, so take advantage of that! 2) Gas up your cars/trucks/vans/...

Re: Any sail knowledge?

I think the Pryde sails will be faster than Maui Hot Sails. I sail Pryde and they have a great reputation for being stable in high gusty (Midwest) winds. No experience with MHS, but look at the leader boards of any event in the world being it ham & eggers like us, or the pros. Chances are you'll...

Re: Kiters + Moose = The Crossing

I think Michael's point here is that he has had little support from the kiting community to get a "qualifing event" for the Crossing organized in the MN area, for the MN kiters. The Moose Regatta was the only organized event that has, shall I dare say, INSURANCE for kiters and RC to assist...

LOST - help!

On our drive back from Worthington, it seems a couple of my windsurfboards decided to wiggle themselves loose from the top of our trailer to find a home on the side of the highway somewhere... Good news : One board has been recovered (my Mistral Woody Screamer!!), which now has a 3" hole in it ...

Re: Kiters + Moose = The Crossing

Hey Scott! How fitting that the Moose Regatta is presently the only way for kiters to qualify for The Crossing if they weren't on the starting line last year . Talking with Michael, any kiter that pre-qualified for the Crossing last year, or did the actual Crossing will be a shoe-in for this years e...
