Re: Winter Forecast - long range
AFTER MORE RESEARCH, it is when the middle stripe of the wooly worm is wider than usual, that the winter will be harsher; thought you should know. Paul Douglas of Weather Nation commented that he expected a milder winter this year: A later date for the lakes to freeze over, but snowier overall than ...

Re: Winter Forecast - long range
ADHERE TO THE PURELY SCIENTIFIC PROGNOSTICATION: The oaks foreshadow a harsh winter by their abundance of acorns, thus providing the squirrels with a winter's worth of food supply. The wooly catepillars have a thicker coat needed for the upcoming season. The moss growing on Uncle Mike's bald spot is...

Re: Wet suit seam glue or repair glue suggestions?
I just tried soaking a patch of spandex with adhesive and putting it on the inside of the suit, & then applying just enough to fill the tear on the outside. A sheet of wax paper on both surfaces kept it from sticking, while it was sandwiched between two boards under some weights. It dried overni...

THAT'S MAGIC!! Only Belden could manage to make getting old, & in my case crusty, seem positive...backed up, of course, by RJ's philosophical take on LIFE. I have been in denial of my own decrepitude for decades. For some reason, feeling 22 seems natural until the reality check each morning in f...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GUYS! Really wish I could join you. Just wanted to say that you both have been a continuing inspiration to me and alot of our fellow riders throughout our time on the water. Hope we can continue the trend long into the future.

Re: First good kite vid I have seen - the end of a 11.5 kaho
Thanks, Matt! Sad, to see a Kahoona go down. I've got that same kite, and love it. It is touted as a beginner kite, but boosts like nobody's business. I never thought of Western S.D. as a kite spot, but this proves me wrong. Have to pack the the gear for the next trip.

'FRAID SO POOKEY! We heard the same thing from friends who dined there earlier this summer. On the bright side, "Whopper Jrs. Yummmmmmmmmm!" I am looking for investors to pave over the Carlsona site to make it a campground for kiters, and bring in food trucks for events. Time to unle...

I hope I didn't miss you. The wind shifted and I ended up doing a down winder to Wildwood. Were you able to ride yesteday? I heard that the wind was steadier at Waconia. Enjoy your visit!

Re: advice on kiting this week + can anyone lend me a board?
Michele, I hope to get out to Bellaire Beach on White Bear this afternoon. You can borrow my smaller board and a pump if you show. Just click on the lakes section of this site and follow the directions for the arrow on the south shore. Hope to see you there! I will be in the little blue chevy HHR. J...

THANX, MIKE! Reds gave it to me @ Wildwood yesterday. Next time I'll load my gear, and then hoist the brewskis afterward. I actually drove back to Rutherford to look for it & ran into another kiter with a crazy energentic Lab that kept dashing into the water and back. FUN!

Re: Gathering this year at Milly?
MAYBE ONLY US OLD TIMERS REMEMBER WHO ORIGINALLY CONCEIVED THE GATHERING. I think it was so no one would have liability for insurance purposes. If there was no formal announcement, no one could be held responsible if anything went wrong. As far as "the Crossing" is concerned, it has a trad...

The "Dog days of summer" usually finds this area in the Summer doldrums. Last year we escaped to the Gorge. Funny, the place was loaded with MNsotans, and former MNsotans who finally wised up & moved there. That's why MikeK sells SUP's!

GO OLD SCHOOL:Use noaa/nws & click on everything until you see it. On Ikite, try the different charts, I like meteograms, and computercasts
which show all the charts side by side for a given region. Lately, seems like Ikite has been more accurate. Good Luck

AUG 8-12 = JRN's Family Gathering. Pre-load , or steer clear of Finlayson. Can we hold the Crossing @ the Gorge this year? It is alot easier to cross and leaves more time to party.

WONDER IF BLADE has a pic of that bar on their site. Howzabouta Pic, MK? Not of you, of the bar. O K, you & the bar. Wanna see this strange configuration you guys keep mentioning. My early Epic bar had a weird set-up. I think the designer watched alot of Inspector Gadget in the formative years. ...

ROFL @ THE HUMOR NOT THE HURT! Maybe this will give you enough time to catch up on my number of posts. BTW:You should become an expert at the one legged segment of the cop's sobriety test. In the meantime, you can excercise by entering ass kicking contests.

I tried all the "Big'uns," and unlike Al Bundy, I went for an allaround shape ( I'm 205#). Try the big Crazyfly or my 148 X46 UG which I felt was the liveliest of the bunch. You can test drive it anytime I'm out.

Re: Blade 17M kite demo
Sounds like it has alot of good features. The price point is always a factor on the big ones, & I got my 17 used. I think alot of riders are also seeking that rangey 14 like the t-3's. Blade seems to be aiming for that niche formerly held by Best, for us budget minded shoppers. Thanks for giving...
