New Windsurfers have no nose scoop because?...
Why do all "New" windsurf boards are short and Flat? (no nose scoop)? I've come to the conclusion that maybe almost all (if not all) new windsurf boards are flat on top and short because..... One reason...probably just easier to make. 2nd reason...Windsurf companies got sick of owners comp...

No need to dry sails when you can stand them up vertical
After years of waisting time hanging out windsurf sails over ping table in basement, I've learned that all ya have to do is stand them up in their sail bags (with cloth Mast sleeve end on ground) and plastic delicate leach up in the air...and they dry just fine!!! This is what Dave Ezzy recommends (...

Sail stored needs tension at all three corners or else damag
If you keep windsurf sails rigged up (and ready to go) and stored away in the garage or in the cabin, be sure all three corners of the sail is pretty much equally tensioned. My big sails won't fit inside the cabin ground floor door...so in the past I have released the outhaul completely and then rol...

Sand can "cut" and cause holes in windsurf board
Windsurfers: be careful when you come off the water and lay your rig on the beach. If it's a perfectly sandy beach...be aware that if you leave the board on it's side and strong wind is pushing aqainst it..it can rock back and forth the edge of windsurf board and "literally" cut into (mayb...

The Carisma of the Bic Techno 283 windsurf board:
I've turned over three Bic 283 boards to windsurfers in my time. Each of the sailors informed me that the first try-out session on the Bic 283 board was one of immediate planning action! This is a great testament to the "Carisma" that the Bic Techno 283 board has. The little sister (Bic 27...

"Everything's better when wet!"
Yeah,,,I'm refering to making changes of foot straps or putting on new harness lines. New harness lines and foot straps are very stiff and hard to work worth when new out of the package. So.,,,just dip the parts (in water) that you are going worth with,(manipulate) like the loops of the harness line...

Brain eating ameobas....(worst than shark attack?)..
Brain eating ameobas are more detrimental (well, they are fatal) than a shark attack. Unless the shark bite causes massive blood loss or eats you whole...if you get a bite from a shark often it's just that,, a bite,,and you need penicillian for some time to prevent infection. But...the "Brain e...

tips on Planing through the gybe..."SPEED is KEY"!!
Most sailors out there when completing a gybe tend to slow down (even stall out) before fipping the sail during a gybe. This is fine,,perfectly O.K. if you're satisfied with at least completing the gybe (not falling in) and then pick up speed again after gybing. But....if you want to plane, speed th...

Sunday, June 19th at Cannon the wind was tasty, not the wter
Lake Cannon had about ten windsurfers out. South Wind was steady 20 and gusting to thirty. I just stayed rigged on my Panther 6.3 meter,,most sailors on 5.2 to 6.0. Five sailors (regulars) on Cannon...and we were graced with the presence of A mother and her adult son who were windsurfing as well. I ...

Happiness is a clip on boom and a WEED fin!
Just want to pay tribute to advances ( a rather late mention) in Windsurfing Technology. My first windsurf set-up was an old Hyfly 12 ft board and a "Tie on" boom. This was in 2001. (I just didn't know any better) when I bought some really old used stuff. Well after a few times of not func...

Kayak life vests don't get in the way of the Harness hook...
Windsurfing and Kiteboarding have advantages when you use life vests or lifejackets when sailing in our deep water lakes in Minnesota. Often I hear sailors say,..."I can't wear a lifejacket because it gets in the way of my harness hook." Well, yes this is true if it's your standard lifejac...
