Re: What do you do to cross train?
thanks very interesting info. I am fairly new to yoga but definitely see the benefits. My mind needs a bit more cardio each week than I have been able to achieve through yoga but otherwise I could see it being the only other thing needed...to support all the other play. any others have thoughts they...

What do you do to cross train?
About 4 years ago I hyper extended my knee on a low kite loop. Luckily I didn't need surgery, but was out for half the season. The injury made me intimately aware of my aging body and the need to do "other things" in the windless days between sessions to ensure I can do this wonderful spor...

Re: Dawn patrol at the island
Great Dawn Patrol. Something about the stillness of the dawn. Very peaceful. Snow was plenty soft for quite a bit of swayin'. Had the first hour to myself then John, Scott, Lloyd, Torrispacedog, and Mike joined in. Thanks Mike and Lloyd for checking on me after my spill. Happy, thank you, more please.

Re: Can I bust out my skis yet?
yes great day at the bear. The snow is the perfect base for the rest of the season. Great edging, fast conditions, reasonably soft. I was on a board and could carve all day long. ride on

Re: kite tonight
Kite Island was amazing. Forgot how great it is to rig up in the shadow of the island then step out into that massive lake. Snow was good enough for endless carves downwind and incredible speed runs. Skies were cloudy at first giving great visibility, then cleared off and got darker but the stars ov...

Re: Calhoun and City Lakes
I don't know about inner cities lakes, but waconia was great yesterday, (four wheels out at the ice houses) and Cannon seemed quite solid today. Snow was good at both. A bit deeper at cannon. Neither have a lot of bonding going on though.

Re: How's Da Bear?
better to have bare ice for a few weeks to get good and thick before the snow, which will insulate it. A little more thickening and then the big storm will hit, and we'll have a playground for the rest of the winter. psych!

Riding the storm out
Great sessions to be had before and after a storm at Reddy today. The sun only made occasional appearances, but the wind was enough for some boosts and play on 12-14s.

Re: an unexpected kite ride
Thanks Peter. Glad to help and glad you enjoyed the ride downwind. I've been riding for 10+ years now and still enjoy the body drag, which typically is only done as part of the early lesson programs prior to working with the board. It's been awhile since I've had the opportunity to do such a long on...
